Only the mods can stop me if I break rules. I'm here to stay and follow all rules and keep sourcing books.

I have a question, why are you so eager to stay here?

Money and cool books. :(

So many here have given up every ounce of integrity or sense of decency in the pursuit of both. It is shameful and embarrassing but hey, at least some despicable people can have friends on the internets because they sell cool books.

Not really a community I am feeling I want to be associated with all that much and that is sad.

I agree, but I like to think the majority of the community feels the same way and will continue to let a good deal pass by before giving up their integrity.

You've only been here a year, give it time.

true dat!

there is no shortage of modern variant collectors that will line up to buy from Symbiotic via PM even if he declared "I am done". Heck they have no problem buying from him openly if he starts a sale thread right now. The mantra here is "hey, as long as you haven't screw me, you are COOL...with me...so screw someone else and I am fine"

Unfortunately, I have seen this far too many times.

I remember I had been complaining to a friend of mine about the latest hot deal I had lost to someone else, and I had finished up by saying something like "well, you know, I got over it, I realized I could live without it", and he just looked at me and laughed and said quite correctly "you can live without any of it". I'll always love him for that clarity.

I know business has always been business, buy cheap and sell dear, as they used to say, but I do think that with all the variants, exclusives, limited editions, sketch covers and generally all the artificial production of scarcity that defines today's market, it has encouraged the grasping profit seeking as a kind of game.

The production of artificial scarcity, there is probably a better way to put it, but for me that has brought out some of the worst features of the market place. 2c

Very well said, and I agree. I responded to someone last night that I think Spider-Man #1 may be the straw that breaks the camel's back, or literally busts this bubble. How in the world did Marvel not learn from the X-Force/X-Men glut of the early 90's It's seems an endless cycle from Anthropomorphic B&W tutlesesque, to X-Men/X-Force polybagged multiple copy, to Semi-Porn female pin-up cover girls, to sketcharo New 52, Image #1 next WD, and I am sure there were many before, some I missed, with more to come. Read and collect what you like and enjoy. The rewards will come, sometimes that even includes money.

They would love for it to happen again. They would kill for the numbers they were selling back then.

How long is it protocol to wait for someone to return your money after buying some books and then returning them? It's only been 3 days, but I did pay instantly and I did return the books and the seller received them within 3 days of me contacting him about the books? Tia

Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I have to ask for an opinion on a recent sale I made. Buyer posts take it and then I PM them to provide the payment info.

They say the will pay the next morning.

Next morning nothing. I then get a PM saying that his paypal isn't working and that he just found out when he went to pay me. But he said, I should relist the book even though he knows he will get on the probation list.

I PM'd back saying I can wait a few days if it will help and that i'd rather not relist the book for sale again.

Since that PM was read yesterday, no response and no payment.

Should I relist the book? Nominate them to the probation list? I don't know....i've had a string of non payer on ebay and now this one here....

Thanks for the opinions.

Here is what he wrote about that...

"If you want, you can repost the book for sale. I do not want to go on the probie list but I am trying to get this PayPal stuff straightened out as quickly as possible."

He doesn't want to go on but hasn't answered me and I'm willing to wait if he needs time...

Plus he posted in the thread that he posted take it too quickly as he thought it was a different book...but he would still take it.

I hate to have to nominate him but it looks like I might have to. hm

True, but it just burns me that people do these things.

Of course if I nominate him then I can't relist the book for 30 days right?

It would be so nice if a simple comic sale could go smoothly.

I'll see if he answers me in the next day

The list is already losing its integrity. Some of us are simply trying to stop the erosion. At the end of the day it seems the need for vengeance is winning out. I would guess it is noob voting but with the anonymous system who knows.

Yup. The call of "add him to the HOS list" seems quite strong these days. Maybe too strong.

I agree, I think we are losing the original point of the HOS list. It was for serious actions, most of which constituted acts which were akin to stealing.

AlleyBat attempted to steal $5k in a Batman 1 scam

Comic Supply took money for numerous orders and never sent the items

Heral2galactus had multiple transactions where he received items/money and never reciprocated.

lol where does jokerfish and the crusade you led against him fit into that?

He failed to complete multiple deals while continuing to buy things on the boards. When he was confronted, he claimed he had given out his ID to relatives and he was not doing the buying (so he was allowing shills to use his id). I really don't remember the rest. I highly doubt I was the only one saying anything because I DO remember, I waited over a year before saying anything about the deal he failed to complete with me, so someone else must have brought it up. However, If you are still upset about him, you can look it up yourself.

and lol...

Everyone should just drop it, Thing is not a part of the comic community. Its obvious he has very little respect for our rules and members. I for one will avoid any type of exchange with him be it monetary or verbal.

The sooner the subject is dropped the sooner he will go back to the WC.

On another front, has anyone been able to make contact with joker-fish? I also bought from him (and have already paid) and cannot make contact. :(

Dont remember the rest? i remember it pretty well.

RE: his brother using his account: He was added to probation until it was straightened out and he was removed from probation (this was approx 2 years before you called him for a vote into the HOS

RE: Your failed "transaction" : There was no ill take it. There was no time frame for payment. It was being "held" for him on the premise of If/when he got the money he wanted to buy it. The specifics are cloudy at best since a year later when you wanted to string him up for it, neither party could produce the PMs iirc. Again, this was a year before you called him to vote for the HOS.

RE: What prompted your call for HOS: It was the post i made, that you quoted above. **edit: It was not my post, but a similar one by a different member about the same thread** He was slow to ship some items due to some personal matters or something about work. You were not involved. The only people i remember buying from that thread were me and Lebowski. We had no plans at that time to add him to any list but you brought up his previous missteps, your "transaction" with him, used his slowness to ship to us as a foothold and lobbied him for HOS. Might i add that this was before we could even make contact with him (the whole matter took less than 48hrs) leaving us with basically no recourse had he not shipped our books. Which he did. Even after he was voted in to the HOS.

I point all this out because it was his addition to the list that i thought the exact same thing as what i bolded above.

Looks like someone is up to their old antics. I guess you do not have to honor sales if you sell a book a few days before a movie announcement. I wish people would stop buying from these sellers. I know.... I know....good books and all that. :(

Mkkiller

Sorry if this has already been talked about. Hard to keep track of some of these guys.

The buyers bought some items but now he is not responding to them so they can pay and get their stuff. I just found it convenient that one of the buyers he is ignoring is someone who bought 100 Bullets for $5 before the movie/tv show was announced since now it is obviously going for a lot more. Just seems shady to me.

The seller made a post today, in another forum. Seems strange he hasn't responded in his FS thread.

Exactly. It looks like some of the buyers have been waiting on payment info for more than two weeks already.

The only member I would not currently defend if nominated for the HOS.

That is a strong statement. If you are talking about Mkkiller, how do you evaluate him? What I have seen so far suggests comedy relief rather than serious transgressions, but I admit I have not followed his activities closely.

Yeah, the PL process can be a hassle when you just want to sell a book and move on. Once in a blue moon I get buyers who pull the pin and don't pay or (my favorite) take a book via PM and then edit their PM and back out of the deal while I'm reading it.

I block people like that just to keep track of them, and I put a caveat in my sales thread that if payment is not recieved in X days after invoicing, I reserve the right to relist. I'm covered, and then I can move on quickly without a bunch of problems.
