Finding a rare video game, small stack of underground comix, or even a tiny trove of 50s-60s monster memorabilia, that one record you've been wanting, and so on... Can prove to be very difficult most of the time.

 

Those of you who frequent flea markets, thrift stores, pawn shops, yard sales, and etc know how difficult it can be sometimes to find that one gem. I mostly wade through rivers of poop at these places, so when I find stuff like this... I'm always super excited!

 

I'm always haunted by the thought " if I don't go this weekend... I'm going to miss out on something"

6 hours with a full charge.

One thing I don't like about it though is that there is no "low battery" light or any sort of heads up that it will need to be recharged.... If the battery is about to die, the screen gets all wonky for a few seconds and the sounds starts to go out...

 

Other than that, I love the thing

hat being said, Everybody likes what they like and no need to defend it. I just think BA #12 a pretty poorly written story with very cartoony art aimed at very young kids. It is also very common. But if you like it, who am I to say. And yes, I have a copy buried in a box somewhere.

if it was exactly the same book but published in 1957 rather than 1992 or whenever, 35 years later, and was as common as many Dells from 1957 (which, let's be serious, are pretty common, I could have walked home with a long box of 10 cent cover prices Donald Ducks from NYCC for $1-$2 each) we probably wouldn't be calling it drek.

 

And while certainly no rarirty, it's not like I trip over these Batman Adventure books generally in the cheap-o boxes in large numbers...I hit them once in a while, do a triple take to make sure the good ones have not been cherry picked, etc.

Not done going through it, but these are the best of the bunch so far. Still a lot of silver age to go through; though they are not in the best condition.

The woman I bought them from found them in the garbage. She said they were in "nice bags".

She thinks the owner died and the landlord was just throwing everything out.

Nope. I identified the key issues. Did also find a rough X-Men 101, but the Iron Man 55 and Xmen 266 were the best of the bunch.

 

However, she did come back tonight with the rest of the books. I was expecting 2 more boxes. Instead she brought this:

 

 

10 boxes! There was no way I could look at them outside so I just bought the lot. I told her if I find something crazy like a Walking Dead 1 that I will call her back to give her some more money.

 

Should be fun to go through. I will report back in the next day or two. It's going to take awhile since the boxes are packed. No bags or boards on anything.

I am off to 2 estate sales in about an hour! Both say they have comics but no pictures of them.
