Here's a few more. Haven't got into the non-Marvel yet.

Finding even books like that "in the wild" are a real rarity these days. I remember leaving most of that stuff at flea markets back in the day in favor of GA or SA. Now even bronze books are tough to find. Congrats on the score!

the flea market was "The 49er" .... near Tampa the guy has another one....newer but about 6 inches shorter. I couldn't fit them both in my car as I was on vacation.

I lived in Tampa for about 30 years and never heard of "the 49er"-- where is that located? The main one I recall was in Oldsmar off Hillsborough-- maybe that was the same place. There was another off Waters & Anderson Road too-- not sure if that was still going though. (sorry if you don't know being out of town).

Yeah, Oldsmar is still around. Not the one on waters though.

The 49er is on 49th st in St Pete... Right near emerald city comics

It's one of my favorite flea markets

Been prepping prepping prepping for the VCC this weekend. Lots of books are headed to Sarasota, but kept a bunch of things to move here. Collection was 75 long boxes, full runs of major Marvel and DC titles, plus lots of fanzines. Grade was what you'd expect - early Silver in the VG range, then got better. Plus lots of Golden Age.

Just a couple of previews for the VCC:

oh jeez, you'll be listing 70 boxes...i give up

Nope. Only 150 books tonight.

How does one view such listings? In the selling thread?

Go to this section of the boards -

http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=postlist&Board=69

At 11:00 tonight, the "convention hall" will open - a new thread - and the sellers will start claiming spaces, their booths. The convention will begin tomorrow and finish up on Sunday.

How is it different from the regular selling forum?

I'd say the last few have been pretty similar to a busy weekend on the sales threads but it's different and always worth a look. It use to be the only place some big sellers like Greegy moved books but hopefully new blood will step up and sell some books. It is what we make it.

And now, we return you to our regularly scheduled programming: a few recent non-key, not-for-sale, non-spectacular, non-VCC, non-slabbable, highly pedestrian acquisitions -- just good readin' and good collectin' for light $$, 'cause that's how we roll in this thread... :

Incal is a great find

Agreed. And the "Golden Press" Flash Gordon ("The Movie") hardcover is still shrinkwrapped w/a $4.95 price sticker on the front cover.

Does anyone remember if it actually retailed that way back in the day?
