Closing in on the Warren Presents run:

05 Ring of the Warlords.jpg

One other thing I like about this cover is that they decided to have that sword and shield extend past the border and bleed off the page. A very small detail but gives it that 3D effect! (thumbsu

Exactly! While I love Eerie 41 as it’s an instant classic, the WP cover is equally liked for the different use of the artwork. The CI issue is of note as it uses the interior art for the cover as noted by the bare breasts that were not shown for the cover art.

And let us not forget the other cover using a different rendering of the image:

Awesome.  I've noticed a lot of recycled covers in my year of getting to know the Warrens, but I had never noticed that duplication--er, triplication--before!

So is that black vest just painted on for the covers--kind of like the pale yellow bikini top they tried to paint onto the cover of CREEPY #42?

Looks like it escaped the oh so common bottom spine split.

It has maybe a 1/8 inch of split at the bottom, I wouldn't have noticed it as anything other than a production flaw if you hadn't commented.  And there are at least a couple color-breaking tics on the spine.  But MCS had it as a 6.0, so with their undergrading I could see calling this a 7.0 or so, 8 with a press.

My Warren want list is now down to double digits!

That's always a good feeling!

I'm not real happy with either my #44 or #45, so those copies look pretty good...  and yes, my #45 has about a 3/4" spine split at the bottom.
