Some of you may recall CC offered a very unusual item last night: it was a book of all detective and Batman stories for an approximately 5 year period. Each story had been cut out of the comics and pasted into a book. Furthermore, each page had been trimmed to the margins. Included were all the pre-Robin Tecs (including 27!) and Bat 1 thru I-don’t-remember-what-issue.

it failed to meet reserve at $68k, and I can no longer find it on the CC site. Wish I’d taken a picture of it, but I didn’t.

I was very conflicted about my feelings on this one

Well, with the way the comic book market has been going for the last couple of years, I would say some of the long-time collectors with these kinds of books that they brought back in the day for much much lower dollars are now probsbly giving some serious thought to cashing out.  hm

Especially since the comic book market has historically always tended to move in cycles and don't tend to stay either too hot or too cold for extended periods of time, and will definitely be interesting to see how long this current cycle of the market stays super red hot.  :wishluck:

Three of these are mine.  :whee:

Not the #27 though, I never had the pleasure of owning that one. The #29, #35 and #37 are mine though.  I bought the #29 and #35 on the board's buy/sell forum back in the day!

It did.  I sent it and my Batman #1 which was in a PGX 3.5 holder in and the Batman #1 came back a 3.0 universal, so while the grade drop was unfortunate, getting a blue label on PGX book that valuable was still a huge win.  And the .5 bump on the 'tec also helps!

Did you send the PGX book in in it's slab, or did you crack it out first?

I sent it to Comiclink slabbed, and I don't know if they cracked it first before sending on to CGC or if they sent it in the holder.
