Moderns that are heating up on ebay!

I've not read Skullkickers but people rave about it on these boards. I remember one boardie talking about his son reading the TPB and how much he enjoyed it. I don't know that it will ever move as a highly sought after collectible, but it's got a solid fan following. I imagine that if the creators would promote it on World of Warcraft the title would pick up a lot of readers in a very short amount of time.

Look for the titles mentioned above. They all enjoyed the instant success you are now seeing with the titles you mentioned. My comment was directed towards the titles mentioned above but since you asked what do you consider a success?

You and BeachBum when it comes to selling moderns...

Comic wise...Saga, as I was able to take 4 people who would have never bought it or the series and turn them on to it...the other guy that didn't like it...communist?

What is a sucessful comic is hard explain. It's kind of like pornography, you know it when you see it. If I had to define sucess for a title I think there's two kinds (1) Economic sucess - makes money for the creators and publishers that they are happy with. In terms of an image title, I would say that a 15K a month print run is a grand slam. (2) Noneconomic sucess - making a product that readers enjoy and that satisfies the creators personal artistic desire. I know those are far, far from perfect, but it's late and I've had a long day. ;)

The book turned into a monster. I can't believe the number of emails I've gotten from other dealers + messages through eBay asking me to sell the book direct.

Yep. 27, Skullkickers, Viking... cautionary tales all.

Ultimately, for the books to be lasting hot, they have to filter their way into collections, and out of the hands of speculators with multiples.

The point is that many titles havent had enough issues to designate them a hit.

My personal preference lately is for MP, Thief of Thieves, No Place like Home, and Supurbia. None of these books have done more then 2 issues so no one knows yet. I like the creativity I am seeing some of these titles. This is one of the best year for moderns in awhile.

Skullkickers was junk in my opinion, but I can see how a kid would like it.

I guess I overpriced Fatale #2. The #1 I quoted sold for £10/$15 which is about mid-price for all the ones I've been tracking.

The $66 must have either been a blip or it was shilled.

The issue with the UK is we have alot less people the the U.S. so may not always realise the same prices. Also with eBay you need to get a few people looking at your auction at the same time.

Regarding Skullkickers, I picked that up as I wanted the Hulk #1 cover-swipe, the story though was absolute rubbish. I sold what I had for 99p each.

damn the secrets out on New X-men 128. I was hoping the rookies would still be talking about WD. Well there's still other books left, that's not Image ;) Research is key. Wha character in the top 50 has an introduction issue with a low print run?

Spotted this myself earlier today on GPA. $306???

Always loved the cover. Now, thanks to a certain French mutant and the success of Uncanny X-Force this seems to be the new NYX 3

Completely agree. The good books will stay good and generate a following, the flashes in the pan will fade.

My preferences are ToT, Fatale, and MP so far. Saga has really only scratched the surface at this point, but I'm intrigued.

My fault. I just got tired of reading about WD. I would say that the high print run would affect the value, but after NM 98 we know that wont matter. I wont do it again I swear lol.

So X23 got cancelled here lately will that affect the value of NYX or will it continue to rise?

Yes, but...doesn't the relatively high print run of New X-Men 128 at 106k only serve to further underscore the relatively LOW print runs of Walking Dead...especially in light of the increasing popularity of the TV series...?!?

BWAHAHAHAHA! It all comes back around. :acclaim:
