Do these people really think we are that gullible to just hand over books just to get a sticker on our slabs?

What's the page quality? (shrug)

Would it be a good idea to ask CGC to create a new forum where boardies can evaluate a book's eye appeal (similar to the "Spare a Grade Forum")? This could be done by comparatively scanning books in the same grades.

Opinions?

Would overgraded copies or copies that present poorly get a "normal" sticker? Why not make a sticker to reflect particularly poor examples of any given grade? And how long would a company last if they were charging people money for a sticker that said that? lol

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that stickers stating "poor," "overgraded, "don't buy this ugly book," or "I can smell this musty old book right through the holder" would not be in anyone's best interest. :)

Except all the bidders when the book is flipped. Really though, why call a comic normal if it's below par? Certainly if an above average example exists then below average examples exist too. When you submit top CGC you run the risk of spending your hard earned money on a grade you're not happy with. Seems reasonable that if someone submitted a particularly ugly example of a 9.6 to CVA they could get a sticker stating so, if that's what CVA does. If they just put stickers on books that state how excellent it is, well I guess it's a good thing I don't fall for that kind of shenanigans.

CVA Comics :jokealert:

Who are these people to say what is considered to have great eye appeal and what isn't?

Isn't that why people send scans to each other? Or are we all supposed to buy sight unseen since they put a sticker on it?

Thanks to Doc Joe for obtaining a picture of CVA's amazingly thorough and painstaking method of determining what slabs get stickers:

So these guys went to NYCC dressed up as CGC? (shrug) They prob held up the aisles like all the other pain in the Cos play :)

Oh man, they could at least have had a big comparison banner of two 9.4s or summat.

"Not all 9.4s are graded equal!"

Then two comics side by side with the first having a big fugly miswrap and the other with none and that one with a shiny sticker on it.

Poor show.

What you dont know is that the company that stickers coins, CAC, stands behind every coin they pass. Meaning they will buy any of those coins and have the power to do so. Their sticker came to be because of tpg's overgrading, and putting coins with problems in holders that should be. There is a very active market for them and the coins passed by them do command premiums.

Will CVA stand behind their sticker the way CAC has? It's an interesting question indeed.

No,no it isn't.

Give it up.

You and comicopolis are the only 2 that are supportive. :blahblah:

Look at the picture a couple of posts up.

The baldy guy has a look of "why,oh why did I do this"

The lawyer,of course, won't be there. (shrug)

Because it's a stupid wanky idea.

End of. zzz

This idea has died this weekend.

RIP CVC.
