Grader Notes

1,754 posts in this topic

From December '11:

I know they are eliminating what the 3 graders gave as grades.

I don't think they are eliminating grader's notes altogether. In fact, I believe CGC is going to have them online shortly and accessible.

Nostradamus anyone? To be fair, several people said the same thing.

There was much wailing and gnashing in that thread as well. To summarize, CGC announced a fee increase and promptly stopped giving the different grades assigned.

What are you getting for your money compared to a year ago?

Much longer wait times.

No grades from the graders, except the final one.

No graders notes without more $$.

Anecdotal evidence of less packing materials in boxes.

More ads on the forum.

Wouldn't that apply to your Mask 1 and 2 as well?

hm

I suppose so. This inescapable logic tree has forced me from active collector to out of the hobby in the span of five minutes.

Sweet. That beats the record previously held by COI. :whee:

Wow. This sucks.

I would say 90% of my grader's note calls are because I want to know if a book has a popped staple, since they stopped noting that defect on the slab. I would glad pay a flat fee for access to grader's notes. In fact, I would almost rather do that since calling every time I want to buy a mid-grade golden age slab gets a little tedious. But there is no freaking way I am paying $10-30 APIECE for notes. I would rather just not buy or bid on the book in question....which is exactly what's going to happen. Seller's loss. (shrug)

I hear ya.

Heresy to some, and requiring grading skills and excellent disclosure from the seller; sometimes buying a raw book is a better way to know exactly what you are getting.

Especially when the seller has never seen the book out of the plastic holder.

All the time I see on web sites the clame -- BEST / None better /Highest graded

At what price point do costomers have the right to say to the seller pay the 15$ and prove it has the best white pages ?

So I agree with a post above we should see the grading notes from now on were $15 is a small% of value

1 % ????

I cant wait to email some one on ebay asking for grader notes !

Cheaper than paying CGC to hear about the color touch on my Mask 1.

the fee was obviously instated because it was becoming an overwhelming problem. I can imagine them being bombarded by CPR's all day looking for candidates. they are in business to grade books, not field calls all day about their service.

I say good for them.

Exactly, heaven forbid that Customer Service has to serve customers. :sumo:

This is so easy.

If so, then make it free. Bombardment avoided.

Do they have dedicated CS people or is it graders fielding the calls?

Exactly who is this "CPR gang"?
Where can I make some phat bank? Who says phat anymore?

George Rodriguez (somewhereintexas) said "Haters gonna hate" today. So that phrase is dead now. I'm bringing back phat. Who's with me?

I'm with you Sean.

The logic tree was walkthrough; it should be $30.

I don't see how it is petty. If you pay for a service with a defined outcome (a graded and slabbed comic) are you necessarily entitled to all of the work product that goes into providing it?

That explanation doesn't make you sound like a lawyer in the slightest. :eyeroll:
