I recently put a $600 book for auction. Last bid was $221.

Disappointed, but hey, that's the way it goes. Cry and move on

we've all been there. when I was selling groups of books on e bay many moons ago, some of the lots went for dirt cheap. boxed them, up and gone and move on. it happens.

I completely agree and have been there as well. Too many of the current Ebay sellers have the mentality that Ebay will just let them cancel and wipe most feedback.

To be fair, it looks like the seller tried to cancel the auction less than 1 day into a 10 day auction so it's hard to say you won a legit auction for $1.

If you're a business seller, I have seen deserving bad feedback removed quite often, if you're a private seller though, then it's a lot harder to have it removed.

Surprised at zillaf4, they have always been a good seller as far as I can remember, did the Akira run out of time, or did they end it early?

It wasn't a run only a single book.  It went the entire time for auction. I bid within an hour of it listed. ( for close to actual guide) no one else bid. I won it for 99 cent + shipping. Then I paid shortly after it ended. The next day zillaf4 cancelled and sent me the messages above. It was obvious he just didn't want to sell it for $0.99 plus $4.50 shipping.

If he hadn't been tried to brush off his dissatisfaction with the sold price by using the " I made a mistake in the listing " and just been honest. I would have understood and made him a more fair offer, as I did bid more on it; and I expected to pay more.

Sad part was I was considering more of their books. Instead you see the way the conversation went and I definitely will not be spending any money with them.

I am sure it is no skin off their back, but the kind of jackwagon messages they replied with are not acceptable.  Same with ebay allowing sellers to pull this kind of carp with no repercussions.

Yes ebay can be all over the place with Negative Feedback removal.  Larger sellers do get more leeway.  It also has to do with how it is worded and if you sent messages specifically about it with a threatening tone. (Feedback extortion) Which is definitely not allowed and will guarantee it will be removed.

All the more reason I have been making more purchases from other sites, LCS, and here over ebay.

can you explain this code thing to me?

The code is used by fortnight players to be able to get some "skins" for the game so they can change the look of their player.

The fortnight players are only buying the comic for the code and don't really care for the comic.

I agree.

I already have one. I was only interested in that one as it was the second print. Not really a big deal and will find another.

'I read the book, and didn't like it, so can I send it back please'

Instant ebay approval - I just refunded, and couldn't be arsed to fight it.

Funnily enough, she was happy to keep the book after all....

Has 'issues' up top - avoid at all costs, unless you want walls of text every 15 minutes. Another who wanted a partial - this time I called their bluff, and no return was lodged.

It must be silly season on ebay.

Here's the whole list of my blocked buyers.

I don't need a comment from the usual person.

The highlighted ones resorted to threats of violence when they did not get what they wanted.

Best one I have had for awhile.

Tano2030

This buyer purchases Batman Fortnight 1 on Monday.
Immediately after buying emails me and ask me to open the
book and give him the digital code.

I explain to him that the book is sealed and I will not open a
sealed book to give the code it will ship next day. (I am fully
aware that if I gave him the code he would have filed on me.)

So Wed I ship the book. I get another email about giving him
the code and explain as a seller I cant do that and the book is on
its way.

Today I get a Payment dispute open by buyer. Ebay asked for
DC number I send it and its at the evidence stage.

I wish there was someway I could get those emails put in as well.

Expand

can you explain this code thing to me?

Sorry for lateness was busy all week in my sales thread here.

There is a digital code inside needed to get a "Skin" on Fortnite.
What he wanted me to do was email him the digital code first before I shipped it to him.

No chance there so then he filed on me.
He did win the case, but I didnt lose any money as it came out on ebay's side. He basically
filed thur his CC is what I am guessing.

Ebay then NARUed him for it.

Im confused I guess. Ive never had an issue with Zilaf bought from them for 10+ years.

Did they put a picture of a 2nd print and advertise it as a 1st print? Or was it something else?

They listed it as the 1st print , but it was a 2nd print. I looked over the picture and knew what I was bidding on.

Glad all of your dealing with them went smoothly.

Don't know why they wanted to act this way with me. Guess they just assumed I really was one of those only looking for a $0.99 win. Maybe they were just having a bad day.

Still with the messages I received and no attempt to offer a resolution, but instead act this this was only due to error ( after the fact) Does not garner any good will.

Had they just messaged and been upfront that they didn't want to sell it for the $0.99 plus shipping and there was an error that this was the second print, I would have been happy to try to work out a deal as I did bid more on the book.

Only reason I originally responded to his message with the would he honor the original winning bid was due to them saying it was only cancelled due to the error (which the messages right after show when they state , " I will not sell this for $1"

I didn't really expect them to sell it for that. I just do not like the usage of it was an error rather than the truth of no one else bid and it sold too cheap. I would have respected the honesty and at least made an offer of what my max bid on that specific copy was ($42.88) Which this is also the first time I stated what my max bid was.

I was thinking this would be fair and if I had won I was looking at other books, but after that communication. No thank you.

All I can say is I try to be fair with everyone buying and selling.  I know I do not have the numbers they do on ebay, but I have over 2700 positive feedback 100% on my ebay. I have sold on may different platforms and a TON more private sales/trades. Including several private sales here on the boards. Both @Cpt Kirk and @Iconic1scan verify how I conduct myself.
