Will CGC make an official statement?

CGC doesn't sell comics, they sell a service. The dealer is not competition.

 

Joey offers a pressing service. The same pressing service Matt does. They are in competition. Furthermore, Matt has aligned with CGC, Joey has now aligned with CBCS.

So everyone who presses is now verboten?
How about if I accidentally sit on a comic and the heat and moisture from my butt crack press the book inadvertent turning the book into a smelly 9.8 will my post disappear?

I'm just saying that I see their point.

 

There's no arguing that Joey does a great service, and that he gets business from "word of mouth" advertising. One could even go further that these boards are the primary source of that "word of mouth." Obviously, dealers know about him, but new people learn about him here.

 

I've been to cons where he's offered onsite pressing, but he has no booth, no advertising signs, nothing. You just have to know he's doing it ahead of time. How do new customers know, usually from reading it here and contacting him ahead of time. Or learning to find Watson at the con, like it's a secret handshake.

 

I agree with "Spiderman-on-Tilt" that I'm surprised they let it go for so long after CGC aligned with Matt Nelson. Joey does a sizable chunk of business. Now he's the official guy from the other company. So CGC is saying go do your advertising / networking with them.

 

It's business and it's cold, but it's always been CGC's message board.

CGC constantly makes rules that apply only to a select few, mainly in the SS part of the business. Stuff like this is nothing new for them.

I stated this last night in a now poofed thread...the Joey threads were turning into a giant PM anyway. People asking for status, turnaround time, etc. There was some excellent information from Joey about pressing in general embedded in the threads but the fluff was getting out of hand. Nobody got banned, Joey is still here. CGC poofed a few thread, that's all. I don't think Joey is nearly as upset as some of you. Joey will be fine. CGC will be fine.
