Will CGC make an official statement?

If I can make a suggestion. Lets wait to see what CGC has to say to me and let all the hubbub die down. I was just told that the people I need to speak with are OOO until next week.

OOO?? Is that another new grading company?? :ohnoez:

How long can modern "hot" books sustain CGC and keep it profitable? This is a dying medium despite what anybody thinks "Print is Dead"

The CPR business will be more valuable down the road and to create such ill will (amongst Joey's friends and supporters, myself included) in what has been a very loyal customer base is silly and juvenile.

I'm really tired of hearing this cliche. Print is NOT dead. I was discussing the numbers with someone from Marvel last night. Your jaw would hit the floor if you knew how low digital is. Digital is growing, sure, but not at the expense of floppies. Monthly print sales are still > 5:1. The area where digital is "hurting" print is TPB.

Maybe if some of these guys had real jobs you wouldn't have to explain that

I just looked at your new website for the first time in a few weeks.

Don't you think that posting this on your website:

CFP Comics is now the official pressing service of CBCS Comics. Email me for the details.

Would be the reason they changed their position about your posts on this forum?

The first thing I saw on CFP was two big ol' CGC Slabs. Front and center. Six of 'em if you rotate through.

But I'm kinda visual like that, so it was eye-catching.

What does that have to do with my post? (shrug)

Nothing. Just pointing out the FREE ADVERTISING CGC's getting, visually outshining that dreaded 'official pressing service of' capfeather they're so concerned with. :)

If Joe is the 'official pressing company for CBCS' how long do you think it is before CBCS slabs start showing up on the CFP site?

I think what CGC fears most is a CGC book cracked resubed to THE competitor and returned a higher grade will be shown on Joys web page and since they have no control over joys site they will not send people to his web site with free advertising in their forum

:)

Well gosh, this doesn't feel like a slippery slope.

If Greggy would have said that the boards would be in an uproar right about now.

Actually, looks like price increases have saved their bacon!

Same sales numbers… 50% increase in dollars.

I'm glad others have said something. I've withheld, because I clearly have "skin in this game."

But let's look at things objectively: there was a thread, that was bumped constantly, that said "I love joeypost." That thread had more than one incarnation. There were also other threads extolling the virtues of joeypost, in multiple forums.

This is not a comment about joeypost's business practice or abilities; I have no direct experience of either of those things. His services are clearly respected and sought by many.

However, anyone else, especially those not "as popular" amongst certain people, and those threads would have been pounced on with vigor, regardless of who started them.

Can you imagine an "I love RMA" thread...? No? Why not? Have I not done good work, and have many satisfied customers? I have and I do. But it wouldn't have been tolerated, and maybe rightfully so.

I posted about a 9.8 search service in BST, and was disrespectfully and fairly aggressively treated for posting it "in the wrong section", and it was moved to the cricket chirping "dealer services" area. Ok, fine, I've accepted that, even though it has everything to do with directly selling books to people here, AND was a service which directed books to CGC, to their benefit.

But, in the grading and restoration forum, a thread which amounts to little but free advertising? "I love joeypost"...?

Again, I have to ask...would it have been tolerated for anyone else?

Doubtful.

Maybe the perspective should be "I'm glad joeypost got to advertise without consequence as long as he did", and be grateful, rather than charging conspiracy against CGC.

And, as always...if any of you have a problem with how these boards are moderated, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to voice your opinions to the principals at both CGC and NGC.

Well we don't really know how much that $308 million is actual profit.
