SDCC Skybound 5th Anniversary Box set (updated with Ticket totals)

1,760 posts in this topic

Hey All,

Glad everyone is having a fun time with these boxes so far. I can tell you that a lot of work went into making them. There were a few happy customers at SDCC who submitted their redemption cards on the floor. Very cool to see in person. And we've received a couple redemption cards in the mail already! And no, not that one yet. ;)

Now, it's time to answer some questions.

Q: Are there any boxed sets left for purchase?

A: Yes, there is a very small amount left over from the show.

Q: When will they be on sale?

A: We'll be putting the remainder of the sets, along with the other items (yes there will be a few 144 wrap around covers available) from SDCC on our webstore on Tues. Time TBD.

Q: Will there be a limit?

A: Yes. Quantity is TBD.

Q: How are we able to purchase them? How do I become a Skybound Insider?

A: Skybound Insiders will get first crack at all the exclusives on Tues. Then, if there are leftovers, then they'll be available on the site for non-Insiders later in the week. To become a Skybound Insider, click this link.

Q: Are there Black and White sets left?

A: Yes, there should be as they were all mixed in at the same time.

I'm sure there are more questions, but hopefully this will answer a few of them.

it is the rarest CGC/SS there is for WD 1...unless they open up to having other CGC/SS on the label it should command the top price. I wonder if you could add sigs to the label down the road.

You can't - this is a custom one-off, created specifically at Kirkman's behest. If the slab is cracked, you'll end up with a regular blue label WD #1.

This ^^(see the above in bold).

Whoever ends up getting this will actually be going for the case (and label), not the book. 2c

And yes, in case anyone is wondering, I will be jealous of the owner. :preach:

Weird question. Let's say the case is cracked and needs to get "reholdered" will they relsab the case and use the same label sign it has Kirkman's signature? ???

Yes, as long as the book does not need to be regraded (in other words - as long as the integrity of the case has not been compromised).

Big shout out to Skybound and Shawn for all the exclusives produced for SDCC.

It clearly was a labor of love down to the last minute. Seeing people pull black and white sets and CGC books was awesome. It was thrilling for them and rewarding for the people who put them together.

Something that might be under the radar and is really well done are the larger vinyl figures. There are 1:4 variant colors but even the normal ones are amazing. They demand to be opened and displayed.

And a little reminder...the flash drive includes the first tpb of all issues represented in the box set so a fun way to see if a title is right for you.

Lastly...crossbows...they shoot 60 feet. Buy one and use it...its a blast!

Have fun everyone on Tuesday and good luck! Buy those box sets and have fun!

JJ

A mate of mine brought me back a set and I cracked it open....

Got a golden ticket! Alas no Walking Dead #1 but I did pull a ticket for Clone #1!

Without going through 36 pages in this thread, how many B&W sets were made? What was the print run of the entire set?

I think there were 20 tickets in total but don't know what the breakdown of books was.

I'll post a pic of the golden ticket (a postcard really).
