For anyone interested, It's been fun watching the best of the different Doctor's on Youtube.  Here are some of them:

Christopher Eccleston

David Tennant

Matt Smith

Peter Capaldi

Jodie Whittaker

And we have a winner ;)

I thought I'd share this article from this week's Times, which reprints Tom Baker's 'A Life in The Day' from 1978. I always knew Tom had his demons, and this is a good insight into them from a time which, to me, still seems like the recent past but which is - was, in fact, another world. Which is appropriate I suppose, for a Time Lord.

In case anyone is interested:

Zavvi just announced that they’re releasing steelbooks for the two Peter Cushing Dalek movies in 4K in June.

They’re offering just the standalone steelbooks and as part of a deluxe package that comes with a bunch of doo-dads and gee-gaws.

No joke, I literally JUST paid $150 for the Blu-Ray steelbook of Doctor Who and the Daleks yesterday and then get this e-mail today.  I’m ok with it as the Blu has original poster art and I’m always a sucker for that, but still winced a bit when I saw this.

Just about love every one of his episodes.  Even the "fakey" looking Underworld one.  Most underrated one... "Stones of Blood."

Really?

Deep Breath, Listen, Mummy on the Orient Express, Magician's Apprentice, Witch's Familiar, Heaven Sent, Hell Bent, Pilot, Twice Upon a Time, The Return of Doctor Mysterio.

I rewatch those.  Capaldi is my personal favorite Modern Doctor.

I drew what I thought was a nice Tom Baker montage which included SOB, for the old fanzine DWB. They never used it though, just chopped off K9 for the front cover.

I'll try to dog it out at some point.

I loved Baker as Who. A true one off. But Capaldi is The Doctor. I say that often, but he is. I'm not too fussed about the destruction of the show anymore. It ended when he did with, let's be fair, nowhere else to go.

It's Doctor Who.  There are always going to be eras you like and others don't, and vice versa.  I'm interested in seeing where RTD goes with it... I can't imagine he would be returning if he didn't think he had something really interesting to do with it.

Also:  Troughton was The Doctor.  Capaldi is around #4 on my all-time list... still one of the greats.

If he takes up my earlier cheese suggestion, I'll be on board.

That's just the beauty of the show... nobody has exactly the same list of favorites and hated episodes or favorite and least favorite doctors.

My personal ranking:  Troughton, Smith, McCoy are my top 3 in that order.  Tom and Capaldi are in a rough tie below that, and then the rest are all about even and well loved... even if I feel some of them were far better served by their respective eras than others.

It's a brave man who places Sylvester above Tom and Peter, but you're right of course. Each to their own.

That said, Capaldi is The Doctor :)

At least it's good to see one of my favourites from the Jon Pertwee era back tomorrow night.

Nearly 40 years old now, those pages

I tried to watch Sunday's episode but couldn't get beyond the first ten minutes. Everything that I believe is wrong with this incarnation, and writing, was in glaring evidence.

Thank God for the past. And the future :wishluck:

The Sea Devils were terrible, especially the rubber masks, little improvement 50 or so years on. All the same, fixed expression.

This series is also maintaining the solidly craptastic storytelling. Please, let it end.

Yes, I didn't need more than ten minutes to detect, once again, the towering absence of a satisfying story. There's no point listing out everything that is wrong. They just don't know what they're doing on any level. As you say Ken, just let it end.
