I thought this might be a good place to ask about this new Nightwing Compendium.  It's one of my favorite runs from the 90s, so I'm likely going to grab it, but does anyone know what type of quality these are?  What type of paper stock do they use?  I also worry about a paperback binding that large falling apart easily.

Thanks!

Poll is up for what DC Omniboo people want to see most. Please vote, note it closes tomorrow, so get your votes in! This is an official vote btw.

Please, if you need something to vote for, include All-Star Squadron!

Awesome, had no idea, thanks for the heads up!

Pretty easy choices for me.

Batman Caped Crusader/Dark Knight - far and away my #1 choice. The trades are all finished and I think nearly all OOP, it's time to fill in this run in OHC form!

Suicide Squad by Ostrander - Another one LONG overdue. Can't believe we've had two SS feature films and they STILL haven't released a tie-in omni.

Hellblazer pre-Ennis - Yet again, gobsmacked we don't have this yer.

Legion of Super-Heroes post-5yl - At the moment, there are two Legionnaires fat trades that get you partially into the post Threeboot/Archie Legion era, but not much. These need to be collected in some form, would love the omnis to continue. You could finish up all of LoSH and Legionnaires in a couple of fat omnis.

Legion of Super-Heroes Bronze Age - We have most of this stuff in standard trim HC, but we need it omni'd to fit nicely in between the three SA LoSH omnis, and the 5Yl books. Honestly, they just need to take the files from those Superboy and the Legion books, along with the two pre-Darkness books, and the two long oop OHC Great Darkness Saga and The Curse books, and cram them all together. Would come out to, what, two thick omnis? Give us that, then give us the Baxter Legion. pretty please!

There are a lot of other books I'd welcome (all the Batman, Hellblazer, etc as well ast JLI V4, though that material is pretty dire.) But these are some of the biggest empty spaces on my shelves!

Thanks for posting the link to that poll, @Cat

I think there's a snowball's chance in hell of any of my picks being collected into the omnibus format anytime soon.

1st - Uknown Soldier (not sure if they mean the BA version or the modern one. Either way I'm good!)

2nd - Warlord by Grell

3rd - Spectre by Ostrander

4th - Promethea

5th - Human Target (bronze age)

Wasn't there supposed to be a Hercules Unbound/Atomic Knights omnibus at one point?

Oh wow, hell must have frozen over! That's kinda crazy. I'll be picking those up when they come out, because who knows how long the goodwill will last, and they go OOP?

Nice, I'd been hearing these rumours for like a week now. Great to know they're true. I'll absolutely be getting these. Can't wait to finally replace those tpbs.

This is great news.
I almost broke down and purchased the TPBs on eBay just the other day... they were pricey (imo) so I'm glad I resisted the urge.

Marvel and DC's Long Lost Crossover Comics Are Finally Being Re-Released

Once upon a time, the heroes of the DC and Marvel universes teaming up wasn’t too uncommon a thing. From Spider-Man and Superman to Batman and Devil, or to the wild world of ‘90s comics in the Amalgam universe—where DC and Marvel heroes literally got mashed together—the two “rivals” of the comics industry have a long history of collaboration. One that, until now, has been very hard to come by officially.

This morning, DC and Marvel made a joint announcement to confirm that, for the first time in decades, all of the publisher’s joint crossover comics will be collected and released in two new omnibus hardcovers, giving readers official access to stories that have long been out of print for various reasons. Both releasing this summer, DC Versus Marvel and DC/Marvel: The Amalgam Age will collect dozens of comics from across decades of collaborations. The seemingly unprecedented team-up comes a few years after DC and Marvel finally got over legal disputes and helped re-publish a limited run of the JLA/Avengers crossover book in 2002, in tribute to the legendary comics creative George Pérez, who passed away just months after its re-release.

DC Versus Marvel will include stories of heroes and villains from across both universes teaming up and showing down, all the way from 1976's Superman vs. the Amazing Spider-Man to the 2000 Batman/Daredevil. Meanwhile, The Amalgam Age will collect all 24 one-shots created in the mid-‘90s for the Amalgam Universe, an entirely new realm—complete with a faux, storied comics publisher, Amalgam Comics—that took Marvel and DC heroes and mushed them together into brand-new creations, like Superman and Captain America as Super-Soldier, Doctor Strange and Doctor Fate as Doctor Strangefate, and many, many more.
