Cap 1's coming out of the woodwork for sale.  I wonder why people are cashing out of this book?  Such a great key to own,

I'm still trying to forget how I skipped going after an 8.0 with nice pages back in 2000 or 2001. I think it sold for $40K on the nose. (I basically would have had to blow my entire life savings on it, and I wasn't courageous enough to do that.)

It's much more common than most of the other GA keys, but the MCU seems to be leaving DCs in the dust, so I guess that trumps the high census numbers.

Same with the bolded.  I'm sure we've had our fair shares of regrets when it comes to books we could've bought much cheaper back in the past.  I certainly had a bunch that I could've purchased for much much less, I wish I had a time machine to go back and buy those books.  But with much uncertainty looming regarding the future values of these comics, I didn't want to be aggressive and just spend $ like water.  If I knew what I know now, I think things would be different for me and most of us and certainly would spend more $ on these treasures.

Absolutely, the MCU is kicking DC in the behind when it comes to movies, shows, merchandise, etc. Better storyline overall and the years of planning it took to make those movies so successful.  DC can't seem to do something similar that is just as successful with that blueprint.

Sigh, went back to check on a few books I was interested in (after having put in low 'following' bigs when the auctions started) and only now I'm reading ALL the descriptions and once again my hatred for CGC omitting certain label notes has risen to a new high.

Was going to fight for this, as it's a decent poor mans copy of a JSA member key...but alas, very incomplete - something that really should be on that label :(

Why is this particular Marvel Mystery this expensive? Barely the first couple hours of the auction and already at $45K. Just the scarcity? I mean issue #7 in an 8.0 and #8 in a 7.5 aren’t even at the $2K mark yet, but #9 is at another level.

For the folks that track Captain America closely, does this seem low?

Yeah, someone got a really good deal. As far as potential reasoning, who the fu** knows lol.

Yes, it is low. Last 7.0 went for 312k in May '22 on HA. Most recent sale is a 4.5 which did 194k in December '22. In terms of reasons why: there are a finite pool of buyers at this level, so potentially it was a visibility and timing issue? I view this as an outlier on the low side.

The 7.0 on ComicConnect should be interesting to watch.

Interesting result here. It’s the same book. Was clearly cleaned and pressed, spine was fixed, but unfortunately lost a grade 😬. Yet the 4.0 in current market almost doubled what it sold for as a previous 4.5 👌.

This was quite a surprise, especially for practically double the value :whatthe:.  Sure eye appeal is better in the lower grade, but still.. Not worth double of what it was.  Besides, how difficult is it to see past sales in Heritage of these Promise books .

Definitely on the low side at only $201K since CC had a CGC 7.0 graded copy that was auctioned off at $339,760.60 (i.e. based upon a hammer bid of $295,444) back in March of 2022.   :gossip:

Even higher than the Heritage $312K result, but then I imagine the QES sticker on the CC copy must have made all the difference in the world.

Not sure who the consignor is, but if it was me, all I will say is that CL would not be my first auction venue of choice if it's for a high dollar value GA book like Cap 1.  hm  (shrug)

Most definitely will be as it's currently sitting in the #2 position at a hammer of $94K (i.e. $108,100 with the 15% BP) behind a CGC 2.5 graded copy of Batman 1, with still another 2 weeks to go.    :taptaptap:  :taptaptap:

My guess is that it will definitely beat CL's $201K price point, but not sure if it'll get past the $300K theshold level on this go round here.  hm  (shrug)

There’s no denying, Comiclink is far from the premiere mega golden key selling location. Those books certainly tend to see the light of day with Heritage and CC more routinely, and do well on both. I feel like if you look back at past clink auctions you’ll find some solid sales, but overall they are definitely much stronger in the silver and bronze arena.

For sure, because if it was a highest graded copy of a BA or CA book, I would be running to CL as fast as my feet could take me.

Well, not only did it sell for more than Heritage's initial price point of $4,320 when it was a CGC 4.5 graded copy, but it also beat WW's "Sale Pending" price point of $5,350 posted last week:

https://www.wwcomics.com/comicdetail.asp?Product_ID=Detective_39_61719It

It must have been Ritter's grading notes which helped to push it way way over the top:    lol

Grading Notes: Originally graded 4.5, but had ugly spine roll & tape over issue #, but when pressed the front of both staples tore through. Still much better condition than before.

Price: $5,350.00

Sale Pending
