For the folks that track Captain America closely, does this seem low?

I feel so bad for the seller. Hopefully it was a very wealthy person who it won't affect much and not someone who had their life savings tied up in the book. Sad too because little by little CL has been getting more GA stuff, at least it seems that way to me , but this is gonna hurt that.

Yeah I mean silver keys are down across the board since when that bigger 8.5 sale occurred in early 2022. It’s a buyer’s market compared to where we were 1-2 years ago, no doubt about it.

Interesting result here. It’s the same book. Was clearly cleaned and pressed, spine was fixed, but unfortunately lost a grade 😬. Yet the 4.0 in current market almost doubled what it sold for as a previous 4.5 👌.

The Batman 12 that went from 7.5 to 8.0 got a bump in price, went from $4300 to $5600

Expand

This was quite a surprise, especially for practically double the value :whatthe:.  Sure eye appeal is better in the lower grade, but still.. Not worth double of what it was.  Besides, how difficult is it to see past sales in Heritage of these Promise books .

Better eye appeal but the cover is now detached.

Do you mean what a steal of a deal for the buyer or do you mean they were taken out to the woodshed behind the cabin and got a good whupping, although the blood red Batman 49 sure looks much more like the former even though I would have to say it's been all over the ballpark in terms of pricing?  hm  :luhv:

"much better shape"

Eye appeal + cover detached + lower grade > unmanipulated higher grade + cover not ripped off staples

Also "sold" means "I sent it to auction".

The hobby makes total sense. Cue Tim's catchphrase.

Don't question it Andy.  It's in much better shape.  You were told.

There’s no denying, Comiclink is far from the premiere mega golden key selling location. Those books certainly tend to see the light of day with Heritage and CC more routinely, and do well on both. I feel like if you look back at past clink auctions you’ll find some solid sales, but overall they are definitely much stronger in the silver and bronze arena.

Ya they seem to do well with low to mid priced Golden Age books and not blue chip. That's unfortunate because having three equally competing auction houses is important for the health of the hobby IMHO.

Yeah I always wonder as well why the big big books go to CC and Heritage. Can only assume they just have a much better history of solid results, and clink doesn’t with those kind of books. I agree with you though, would be nice if clink could compete there. They certainly do well in other areas though, as you mentioned.

I think adding an extended bidding feature as well as a more frequently listed time pay option would help.

That 8.5 that sold on CL is the same 8.5 Truckee Meadows copy that sold last year on Heritage.

No I totally get it. I’m just not surprised since everything that sold in early 2022 is down right now. Exact same book or not.

It almost sold for almost the same price. I thought it would sell for less in the $150k range.  Did relatively strong in my opinion..  8.5's before the pandemic were selling for $150k or less.
