Yep, a bit surpised that Steve would have made a mistake like this considering the years that he had spent under the tutelage of Matt when it came to these pressing matters while they were both partners at Worldwide.  

Then again, it looks like he's still trying to make it into a profitable mistake as he had paid only $4,320 for the book on the first go round when it was higher graded.  Maybe, he needs to come up with his own version of the CVA or QES labels since as @buttock stated above, "Still much better condition than before."

I saw the sticker was removed and the cover shifted but holy cow! Shouldn't have messed with it. Even I would have known better and making bad decisions is kind of my thing.

It's either naively ghoulish or highly cynical to actually add that in the description. 

And with all that other wear, you can still get a 4.0 for a book with a detached cover?? The oft-decried Promise Effect persists.

Just noticed the ‘Tec #39 has a “Sale Pending” on Worldwide for $5350.

And the book is currently listed in a live Comic Link auction with a bid of $5700.

The auction description does not mention the book as having a detached cover.

I guess that’s where we’re at now in the hobby.

I guess this 'Tec 39 is just another example of sometimes when you think that you are going to lose (i.e. the drop in grade from CGC 4.5 down to CGC 4.0), you actually end up winning in the end (i.e. the increase in price from $4,320 at HA to who knows what by the time the fat lady sings at CL).  

And from the same batch of Promise books that were regraded, I guess the Planet 59 would be an example of sometimes when you think you are going to win (i.e. the bump in grade from CGC 9.4 up to CGC 9.6), you actually end up losing in the end (i.e. the drop in price from $5,280 at HA down to only $4,902 at CL).  

From this current CL Featured Auction, I guess we will also see how another one of the Promise retreads do on their second go round:

A detached cover used to merit a label note, but I guess that is no longer the case. I thought a 3.0 was the ceiling for a book with a detached cover, but either I'm mistaken or that's changed.

Still, there's not much excuse for a buyer not looking up the grading notes, particularly since they're now free. Kudos to HA, by the way, for frequently including them right in the auction listing.

Wasn't the Saddle Justice 6 a No Sale the first time through?

I've had a detached cover in a 4.0 in a book graded almost 20 years ago.

Well, I highly doubt Heritage would ever submit anything to CVA because they are either directly or indirectly connected to CL, similar to how QES is either directly or indirectly connected to CC. 

In either case, totally not necessary for Heritage because they've got a direct hot line right to the graders inside the grading room at CGC, as clearly evident by some of the grades we've seen on the Promise Collection books.

Nah, didn't missed it at all and the first thing that came to my mind was Schmell as a potential buyer since I remember he had a perfect batting average with my sampling of about a dozen CVA and QES books books that he had resubmitted for one of his Doug's Dell & Gold Key Showcase Auctions at Heritage.  

Then again, even Dougie like everybody else except for Ritter, might not be brave enough to put that batting average up against a graded Promise book.  Sure, no problem with resubbing a CVA or QES encased regular book as there's probably still a lot of "meat left on the bone", but a Promise encased book......................nah, don't think so as it's most likely already been picked clean.  

BTW:  Does anybody else here find it rather ironic that whenever it comes to auctioning his own personal collection of books off, whether it be his uber HG Marvel SA collection and now his Doug's Dell & Gold Key books, his own PedigreeComics auction website is not good enough to do it and he always has to go runnning to Heritage?  Makes you wonder why anybody in their right mind would ever consign books to his auction website when even he himself clearly has absolutely no confidence in it when it comes to the selling of his own books.
