Yikes.  The Promise copy of Tec 140 Riddler 9.6 dropped from $456k to $360k. Haircut time

Eerie 1 first horror jumped from $90k to $108k

Well, from a Promise Collection POV relative to so many of the other Promise retreads, actually not too bad at all:  

Sensation #31 sold for $8,400 as compared to $9K back in November of 2021;

Sensation #32 sold for $4,800 as compared to $6,600 back in November of 2021;

Sensation 36 sold for $5,760 as compared to $6,600 back in November of 2021; and 

Sensation 38 sold for $8,400 as compared to $10,200 back in November of 2021.

So, not too bad at all at a loss of $5,040 or only 15.55% excluding auction fees plus any other additional ancillary costs.  

Needless to say, another case where the consignor dare not even make an attempt for an upgrade or the CPR treatment which is so common in today's marketplace except when it comes to these Promise Collection books.

I'm not seeing this one on your spreadsheet. It dropped from $2,340 to $1,431 (which was still too much considering that it has the worst cut of any copy of that issue that I've ever seen).

The Planet 64 went up. It seems like the low-grade and mid-grade copies might be doing better overall.

Thanks for keeping track of all these. 

Rough going for the 2nd greatest comic book collection ever brought to market as far as an investment, especially after tacking on another 10% loss in terms of what the $ is worth today compared to the Fall of '21. Hopefully the consignors were able to negotiate their consignment fees, otherwise you can add another 10-15% to the loss.

It's tough for everyone who owned Promise Collection books that previously were sold for less.  2021 was a great year for the sellers before other inflation surge began in August 2022.   It's a buyers market.

Both prices are at least double of what a non-Promise copy would get; someone wanted a Promise book.

As poorly as some of these Promise issues have fared, an average 20% loss is still miles better than the performance of the Marvel movie hype spec books. Many, many of those are down 50%-75% or more from their highs. It's a bloodbath, even on some of the established high end keys.

It's a testament to the enduring appeal of Gold that the most hyped collection in a generation, sold at the top of the market cycle, is still holding value fairly well.

I think the Promise winners received certificates from Heritage promising them (no pun intended) a 10% net fee if they resold on Heritage.

My perspective is that the Promise books and Marvel SA/BA books are simply a case of

I can understand the 20 or 30% drops as the initial interest wanes and given the macroeconomy.    The Terry Toons 38 drop is brutal.    At the reduced price though, dang, I almost wish I'd bought it.   Great book for only 16k.

I'd still call it high. Talk to some teenagers and ask them if they are familiar with Mighty Mouse. I grew up with Mighty Mouse—I had a "Mighty Mouse saves Dinky Duck" record that I used to listen to—but that character is no longer important. Pop-culture status is inexorably ephemeral.

Planet Comics in general have been high lately—too high considering how common most of the issues are—so $1,400 wouldn't look too high for that #63 if it weren't for the horrible mis-cut. That's a copy I would have passed on at any price. With GA books it's tough to get too picky about finding a perfect wrap and cut, but I don't know how a cut that bad managed to avoid a green label.
