Not what I had hoped for, but still high grade with white pages! Are they now so aware that white covers don't show as much wear that they go over them with an electron microscope??

Guess I should have greased the wheels with a press?

I've heard always press, but I don't always subscribe to the theory with my pocketbook. It's often just to help it present better imo, but I have had some success with bigger values, on those books I press.

Take it or leave it they look nice!  :x

Both books like they're begging for a good pressing.

I think the design intention is for the insert to be noted on the label when present but CGC sometimes miss it, just as they occasionally miss other salient aspects and features when labelling.

When I was collecting inserts, I would often see MJI eBay listings but on contacting the seller was advised that the book did not have it. Some sellers use previous listings to create new ones and then forget to remove the description wording that doesn't apply. It was always better to check, if there wasn't any internal photos / evidence (although I'd dive in on faith if I saw the star stamp on a BIN for fear that someone else might snag it while I was querying!).

My 2c. When submitting, note Mark Jeweler in the variant area. I always do, and so far it is always on the label. You have to TELL them, they can be lazy.

Just upgraded my ASM 316 from a 8.5 to a 9.2 and noticed something peculiar about the label. Instead of the label stating "Mark Jewelers" Insert, it has it in all caps with no quotation marks(Why do they do the quotation marks, anyway?). Anyone ever seen this? Does it mean it's more legit?

All caps are typically reserved for notes on Qualified books. 🤔 Interesting.

So, probably just a minor typing error then. I would think if there was some reason the book should have been qualified that they wouldn't make two errors at the same time(not using a green label AND not notating the reason the book was qualified). One minor error is way more likely than two major ones.

My 2c worth, but pretty much every CGC graded book with an MJI notation on the label that I’ve seen shows quote marks. I’d chalk this up as more an inconsistency than anything else. Similarly, the Marvel Value Stamp notation seems most often to be in quotes as well on both Universal and Qualified labels but sometimes not.  I’ve never been able to discern a reason one way or another.  (shrug)

Modern fast track. Only like $18 more since the book is after 1974 it qualifies

The one I sent like that in May was lightning fast. Received 5/16, shipped 5/20. It took longer for USPS registered mail to get it to me than it took for me to ship it and and get it all the way through to shipped back by CGC. I've got a batch now that have been "in the wind" for almost two weeks. These return shipping improvements that CGC is currently touting are most welcome.
