Yes, I expect spirited bidding at the end.  The unknown factor to me is how the marketplace reacts to the small bit of glue on the cover.  Will they care?  Will it effect bidding?

This would be a $240k book prior to the pandemic crazytown prices.  During these crazytown pandemic prices, I would have thought $300k - $350k.

Time will tell . . .

Wow. It appears that a little bit of glue didn’t bother anyone.

I don’t Know if this includes the 15% vig

I decided to bid $35k. Once I saw the outbid notification, the affordability left.

That would have been a steal of a price with the 0.5  missing back cover and extensive  resto at 36k last autumn

Can't wait to see which sells for more- The Detective 33 4.0 or the 35 4.0 . The 35 has a slight lead at 29k(33 with bp) with the 33 closing in at 24k (27.6 with bp). Some tape inside the cover may hurt the 33 but I still like it better.

33 should win

As they reach the home stretch they're neck to neck at 39k w/bp.

the 33 won, by a lot.

I like the cover to the 35 better, but the 33 is clearly the superior book. I didn’t know it would hammer for so much more, though. I think there’s an 8.0 in the Heritage previews

Strong prices for both Tec 33 and 35 books.  Some pretty strong prices by this event auction.  Most of the estimates I had in my head were blown out of the water.  I guess the Russia/Ukraine war and inflation did not play a factor in the high prices realized.

Oh yes it did. You were even more right than I thought you'd be.

An 8.0 33? Yikes. Yeah they both went for real good amounts but the 33 really did well.  On the video for the 33 it looked real nice. Great colors. Interesting thing the according to gocollects info the last 5.5 was sold in 2005, last 5.0 in 2010, last 4.5 in 2012, and last 4.0 in 2006 for 7,767.00. I hope it went to a very patient collector and not some Millennial Crypto Kid.

Don't know what gocollects is all about but I can guarantee you other sales in between and even more recent than that.

That's good to know. I trust you. Yes gocollect has sales history for HA,CL, CC, Hakes, and e bay  going back 20 years. What I wrote it what it shows. Guess I'd better stop relying on them for all my past sales history needs.

The 2.5 Marvel 1 🔥 is sitting at $276k and ends tomorrow. Very strong so far considering a 4.5 just sold on HA two months ago for $360k. Not to mention the pay copy is also doing pretty well at $1.644 M 👀

The 4.5 was  like a 3.5

The 4.5 didnt have great eye appeal that nasty tape residue along the  full length of the spine. Also it was the first non high grade MC1 to be in auction. Kinda normal the next ones fetch a higher price since people see the results. Kinda like Bats1  and Cap1. MC just didnt have many  available in auction since its uber rare compared to aforementioned

Its going to hit over 300k most likely and

2.2   for the historic 9.2

I was wrong about the drawing power of the 2.5 MC 1. It has already passed the 2.5 Bat 1.
It’s really a unique copy with such high quality paper and eye appeal. That, plus it just doesn’t feel like they come to market that often + Submariner movie = the perfect storm
