I don’t think there were shenanigans. A friend of mine won some of them. He’s an aggressive bidder like me, and simply wanted them. I was talking to him real time during the bidding - of course he was tipsy.

I told him to pump the brakes a bit, as I have 9.8 candidates of some of them likely to get graded soon, but he has a stubborn streak.

Congrats to your friend.  The question is, did he win them at his max bid or did he get a good deal on them?  Pedigree doesn't really have a stellar reputation based on past negative practices. Not sure how it is now, but bidders and collectors can form their own opinion and make their own judgements whether they want to do business with Pedigree.  I'm just reporting based on some of the experiences and research board members have posted here in the past.

Also, I'm curious to know why I have not seen Pedigree Comics set-up at any major comic conventions. In my 20 years being in this hobby, I've never seen a Pedigree booth.  You would think being a pretty known comic auction house that they would set up to take in consignments and promote their biz.  It's something I just thought about and I don't think I ever saw an answer to this.

A bit behind but here are select results from the December Clink auction.    This is all sessions but I kept all results in one recap per title so as you go down you may see repeat grades that were part of later sessions.

Every book I have bid on in the last three months has set a new GPA high. Maybe it's just me.

You're a seasoned collector who has been around and active for a long time.  Unfortunately that means that you're looking for things that don't come up very often and therefore have increased competition.  There are some assumptions there, but that's part of what I notice when I'm bidding on stuff.

I know Doug's got a shady history and that's why I have chosen not to do business with Pedigree, but I'm curious, have there been known shady dealings with Pedigree auctions? Schill bidding?  Or just based on Schmell's reputation?

He's admitted to shilling.

There was also that Ewert trimming scandal where he tried to pass off trimmed books that he knew of to CGC to have them graded and slabbed in universal labels. I dunno what became of it.

Also read about holding buyer's money for his own gain to purchase comics for himself. Not sure about the full details on that.

Quite a few stuff that were claimed which is why I'll never do biz with him.

That's been happening to me as well, but only because the books I bid on are either Golden Age (which are still on the rise), or a book in grade that hasn't had a recorded sale in years.

Thank you for doing this once again!

The UF 4 that went for 2k and the Usagi were mine. I was pretty happy with with both even though the prices dropped significantly over the past year. It is what it is. The bad part of this auction was I missed the FF 5 CGC 3.5 by less than 50 bucks, which sucked since that was my target books for this auction. But I did land Marvel Mystery Comics 82 and the Stan Lee signed Iron Man 1, so all good in the end.

As a general impression, I found it really tough to get any sort of deal on any of the books I was bidding on. It was either pay full price or bust, which is kind of how the featured auctions go.

I have enjoyed seeing you track your collection. Seems like you not only regained all your losses but actually increased the value above and beyond the crazy sale prices during the covid boom. This is remarkable since most keys are still 40-60% down from their highs. Assuming this is due to your books being modern Signature Series that don't have as many comps as the typical keys. What are your thoughts?

Thank you.
Yes, I believe that 39 of the 50 being Signature Series helped to an extent.
It could have all been Christmas shopping for loved ones.
Honestly, I'd love for one of the Signature Series Milestone X-men #1s currently on eBay to sell at auction to determine FMV.
That would help with my collectible insurance appraisal at least.
(again the asking prices are bananas)

For those that are worried about the bottom falling out.
In comparing the 'values' of the 36 books that have remained consistent since I began tracking in 2019 I found the following:
The collective value* of those 36 books are up 54.53%, even with the COVID 'drop' in the market.

*again, 4 key books have had no comp data since 2019
