Here are the Session 1A and 1B results from ComicLink.    I tried to throw a few more "random" books in this time for whatever it is worth.    Results seem to be all over the map - some titles seem to be pretty frosty right now while they're a few signs of potential stabilization for others.

As a reminder - 2021 averages are now gone from GPA.

Awesome, thank you for this.  Really interesting how varied the results were for this auction on Comic Link.  Dickens might characterize the comic market these days with "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times" :)

SA keys still seem to be crashing.

FF1, Hulk 1, X1 feel pretty affordable in that low / mid grade range.

It does seem that they have become affordable in that range, though the FF 1 was CR/OW with a large water stain and damage running from the front through to the back cover.  Still, the X-Men 1 was a Suscha News pedigree!

The higher grade SA keys seem to be keeping their value... if you can find them.  I've been looking for a high-grade JIM 83 for a while now but there are no bargains to be had.  I suspect that collectors are not selling too much of the "good stuff" in this somewhat depressed market or when they do come out the prices are high without too much room for negotiation, no matter the market trend.

Cash is flowing to the harder to find end of market which is allowing those higher grade books to keep prices up.  Lower grade (but still not easy to find) books are taking a thrashing which you can see in all the red in the first column.  It’s disheartening since the last auction is usually the low point in the year with all the Christmas spending.  Next one will be telling since spring and the tax refunds typical cause a surge.  No surge (which would not be shocking) will highlight the current market.

Of all things it appears Spawn #1 (1992) is experiencing a little price climb. I went to a comic market on the weekend and dealers were pricing it at $150 (AUD) for raw standard copies. (I actually questioned this which lead to a fairly awkward conversation). I went away & checked eBay sold listings & it does appear it's consistently selling for higher than the $30 USD high value on Key collector. Around $50 USD from what I can see. So if you've got a pile of them in your inventory, which I know people on these boards would, you might want to pull them out and get busy

Spawn is one of those runs where it is consistently popular, and so it does not surprise me if it climbs from time to time. There are a gazillion very high grade copies floating around so if you have flawless copies and price them well there will always be buyers. Not a particularly high value series aside from a few outliers, so it is never going to make you enough to retire on, but you can definitely have a nice return on investment with them.

Big hit on this pedigree book! Last sale was $11.1K in 2021.  Highest graded 9.4 copy sold for $15.6K in Nov 2023.

It's felt like GA books were holding the line pretty well. But it feels like we are seeing more cracks on that end of the market.

I still am not sure that's even a $5k comic, though I'd like to have a copy.  I'm still getting outbid on a lot of the mid-grade stuff in PCH.  Depending on the comics - if they haven't been bid up during the 2020-2022 run-up, I've been seeing a lot of lower and mid-grade comics getting higher bids.  Or maybe it's just me thinking that.  As usual Matt Baker art seems to still be strong.  There are some issues people were paying hundreds for that were kind of mundane covers when it comes to his art.  It seems to all still depend on who's watching the auctions, and who's got interest when the auction comes up.  Again - IMO. :D

I don't disagree and I have done no research to back up my comment.

I buy a lot of PCH, but I don't generally chase Church copies.  On the lower end of the market, I've been having a lot more luck in the past few months. G to VG copies seem to be slipping into my budget much more frequently.

to the point of all depends on who is watching the auctions week to week - posted the below results in the AF 15 thread earlier,

Oh yeah, I remember reading or hearing about that on a YouTube video, I think.  Or maybe it was your post - can't remember. lol.  AF15 is one of those comics where there's high demand but also relatively high supply, so I expect sales to be volatile, especially in a down or descending market.  The other thing is, for the past few months, has anyone ever been afraid they wouldn't get a chance to bid on an AF15 unless it was one of the top-tier grades?  Low-to-mid tier seemed there was one selling every week. lol.  I think that's changed in the past few months where people are either too scared to let them go because they'd lose money or the people that really wanted to pay for them got theirs.  I don't know.  Some of these auctions are really weird - and I'm not even talking about high end stuff.

I was going to post this update tomorrow in the AF15 thread after the 4.5 closes in the Heritage auction but will post a prelim copy now......

Prices have been relatively stable especially in the sub-4.0 books.   A few outliers on 5.0 books really mess up a clean trend line.

Nice.  I think maybe the fact the lower grades are more plentiful may contribute to the stabilization?  As the population gets rarer, you start seeing the oddball sale here and there.  I don't know.

I suspect the way it plays out is a lot of people want it, but the book has a huge price tag so most collector's cant afford it. At the lower end of the grade/price spectrum there are a bunch of people willing to go for it and stretch a bit to get it. As the price point increases most of those folks fall away and all that is left is a small group of collectors with deep pockets. The decreasing number of bidders at increasingly high price points can lead to some volatility in hammer prices from auction to auction.
