Turtle
Maloney, Nice job with the sketch cover! What was the method? Side-by-side? Light box? Grid? I think it's even more impressive that you're a math teacher. Most left-brained people can't draw worth a lick (myself included). toitle, That is crazy cool! That NES got renovated from top to bottom. When you follow the link, they even customized the controllers for the four turtles. Even the little red light on the from of the system is now green. Very cool!

spracknetch23
It's amazing that 7 of these have been found. Interesting read on the #3. Hopefully the other 3 are out there somewhere (and hopefully I will find one of them at a flea market one day)!

I think it's even more impressive that you're a math teacher. Most left-brained people can't draw worth a lick (myself included). Thanks! I had the image next to the sketch cover as I tried to recreate it. I started with Raph, then Leo, then Mikey, and Donny last. I basically went from top to bottom so my hand wouldn't smeer the pencil. I was actually pretty good at art back in the day when I was in high school. I took all the art classes they offered and considered art school for a short time. However, like with most teachers, I met someone who was doing amazing things and inspired me to become a teacher. I picked math as my subject simply because I knew I'd be able to get a job afterwards. Not because I was good at it. In fact, I struggled quite a bit getting through college but got it done. I believe my struggles with math made me a better teacher in the end. sorrenmj

Bronty
YOu know, I don't think I've ever seen the 2nd print of #3 before, but that's a beautiful cover!
spracknetch23
I love how the reprints in most cases had completely different cover art (and usually new back-up stories). That's what inspired me to collect the entire run including reprints.

Turtle
I thought this was pretty cool. For nostalgic reasons, I've got a special place in my heart for the 2nd print cover to TMNT #4 by Michael Dooney. During SDCC '13, Nickelodeon released a poster of the character designs from the new cartoon in the same poses and setting. I'm not sure who the artist is, but they did a really nice job. spracknetch23
That poster was the first time I ever saw the "all-red" Turtles as a kid. I was confused as to why they were all red and thought it was a mistake. Also, I gave them all pupils on mine. I still have that poster but man it's beat to hell.. Also wow, that new version rocks
