I believe Marvel chipping is a 10%+ reduction in value...sometimes more...

I sold a 4.0 for $16K a few months ago...just paid in the 20K range for a nice 5.0

every book is different...gpa doesn't tell the tale in most cases (chipping or no chipping, white pages or lt tan, etc, etc)...

eye appeal copies easily sell for a premium...lack of eye appeal hurts relative to the avg

Hi gator. These are the two copies on ebay that just sold for the $17k+.

This one has a big chunk out of the lower left hand front cover -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-CGC-4-0-1st-Spiderman-/141687139294?hash=item20fd362bde

And this one has marvel chipping-

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amazing-Fantasy-15-Aug-1962-CGC-Grade-4-0-1st-Spiderman-/261972342242?hash=item3cfec4b5e2

I'm inclined to agree with dem, there does seem to be some randomness to these results.

Buyers just seem to be paying whatever they see fit to pay for whatever copy that they like.

The problem with those buy it now or best offer auctions is that we do not know for sure how much they sold for because ebay does not give us the actual sale price. It could be someone bought it for the buy it now price or maybe the seller took it for $15k. Who knows.. I tend to side that 4.0's are worth in the $16k-$18k range depending on eye appeal.

Both of those sold for those prices. As also reported to and by GPA. (shrug)

Ok well if GPA reported then those are what it sold for. Just saying in general we do not know what anything would sell for if buy it now or best offer auctions unless reported.

AF15 7.5 ended at 62k. Down a bit, but the staple placement may have had a lot to do with it; I wouldn't have bought it just because of the staples. I think one sold privately for 70, another for 68, so a dip could mean the end is near!!! \:\)

Then we look at the 6.0. I don't get it...

The 7.0 finished at $48.5k, which would have been a GPA high but for a copy that sold for $53k three years ago, that appears to have been CPR'd since.

I actually think the last couple of AF 15 results on C link have been a bit soft.

Another AF15 scam on ebay.

Item 381421707579.

I used to own this book.

Front cover and CGC serial number match up but the back cover is wrong.

It should be missing pieces as is clearly noted on the label.

Sorry but I can't seem to put the link up.

Anyone know the seller?

I messaged him but no reply yet.

An Avengers 4 CGC 8.5 was for sale for $3999.99 with best offer. It sold and says best offer accepted. Yet, it is reported on GPA as selling for $4000

???? (shrug) Just curious as to how this happens, perhaps wondering if GPA is completely accurate at all times...

It's simple. GPA will round to the nearest dollar because it takes a lot less space to put a decimal point and two more places on a number on the screen 100's of times.

I've been scrolling through watch count and still could not find how to look up sale prices for the buy it now/best offer auctions. All I see are books that are currently up for auction with the current bid and how many people are watching.

If you plug in the item # on watch count (in the keyword search box), then it should say "Sold for ______". Sometimes that doesn't work, and you have to click the link that says "check price here on eBay" or "History" and it will take you to the U.K. eBay site which shows the offers/final price.

Watch count is helpful for current BIN/Make Offer listings too, because you can see the offers (if any) that have been made/declined. Definitely a useful tool.

I obviously cannot speak to how others sell what they sell for the prices they get

I can only offer my opinion based on over 100 af15 purchases and subsequent sales overs past few years.
