I hear what you're saying. It definitely takes time and exposure for characters to develop.  I think Jon Kent has been one of the better received characters of the past 10 years or so.  Gabby Kinney (Scout/Honey Badger) is a character I enjoy on the Marvel side but hasn't really broken through.  However, it seems to be closer to 15-20 years before a character seems to make a jump in most cases.  Often a catalyst is needed to push them through the humdrum of mediocre characters.

Case in point -- and to answer my own question -- Squirrel Girl. She debuted in 1991, so barely past my "thirty years" criterion now, but it was the re-imaging by Slott and especially North/Henderson made her someone I want to see more of, at least in their hands.

Slightly doubled from Nostalgic Investments now.

ebay seller is nostalgicollectibles. Is that the same as Nostalgic Investments ?  Their locations don't seem to line up, either.

They are not the same -- Bechara is in North Marshfield, MA, not Denville, NJ (where the ebay seller is). Looks like some posters here have some deleting to do...

It sold for around $3.5K

That seems to be a legitimate price - 3 figures with a background on the back of MCP's most famous issue by a well-known artist?  I'd say the Heritage price was a good deal with meat on the bone for the right re-selling venue.

The mark-up in price of close-on $4K is excessive.  The competition for that piece, nearly two months ago, fell below the auction price - so I'm struggling to see how the new ask so soon after the original sale can be justified?   I get that dealers buy art to re-sell at a profit, and don't have a problem with that,  but this is a bit of a jaw-dropper!  Just my 2c
