Popular Post Bosco685
Quote EXCLUSIVE: With the four actors set to play the iconic members of the super team, Marvel Studios‘ The Fantastic Four now has its sights set on who will play Silver Surfer, and it looks like they are going with one of the towns biggest rising stars. Sources tell Deadline that Emmy winner Julia Garner is set to play the iconic comic book character in Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards (aka Mr. Fantastic), Vanessa Kirby is Sue Storm (aka the Invisible Woman), Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch) and Ebon Moss-Bachrach is Ben Grimm (aka the Thing). kimik, Cushing Fan, Larryw7 and 8 others 1 4

media_junkie
I wasn't too jazzed with the casting of Pedro Pascal as Reed to begin with. Now the gender bending of Silver Surfer is turning me off on this movie. I'll wait for the trailer/more information, but yeah, I think so far it kind of sucks. RobAnybody, Larryw7, jcjames and 1 other

If you'd rather look at some dude's package in the skintight Surfer suit there's nothign wrong with that. However speaking for myself and bulk of the potential audience for the film I'd much rather stare at a shapely female form with potential cam3l t0e in the taut Silver. BTW's I'm positive Lee and Kirby would agree with me! Edited April 17 by MAR1979 MatterEaterLad, jcjames, Mystafo and 3 others 1 4
awakeintheashes
IIRC she was a surfer along with Norrin in the Universe X storyline. So, not really gender-bending, just not following the traditional storyline. I'll hold out judgment until I see the film. thehumantorch, The humble Watcher lurking and jimjum12
MattTheDuck
For obvious reasons, I'd personally prefer Silver Age stories and characters in the FF movies. There are plenty of good stories during the first 100 issues of FF. Nevertheless, I'll continue to hope this will be good and Ms Garner will bring the kind of gravitas to the Silver Surfer he had in the comics. jimjum12 and The humble Watcher lurking

Key Largo Comics
Not really a gender bend technically. She's playing Shalla-Bal. Doesn't preclude us getting Norrin Radd at some point. jimjum12, The humble Watcher lurking and awakeintheashes

You must be thinking of the wrong chick...besides being quite possibly the homeliest actress in follywood she has the body of a prepubescent male. Glad I stopped being excited about this years ago. jimjum12
I'm not technically against gender bending and race shifting per se, as long as it is applied equitably, but I can't help but notice that the changing typically involves the removal of white male heterosexual roles. Do I need to ask for some clarification on what the message is here, if there even is one? GOD BLESS ... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) ... for example, why isn't Jean Grey being morphed into a white male womanizing pervert? Some executive these days always has to say, "Forget about 50+ years of the comic character being (established example), we don't have enough (women, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc) in this movie! We need to change that character so that we have enough or we'll get roasted by society!!!" It's ridiculous. Make an original movie that checks all those boxes and stop screwing with the version of the character that made it popular enough for a movie in the first place. jcjames, Larryw7, jimjum12 and 1 other 2

Someone will find a quote from decades ago Stan Lee originally meant for Silver Surfer to be a female. So this is just honoring his original vision. Popular Post Cman429
It's amazing to me that on the VERY day Iger wins his proxy fight from a bunch of guys trying to save Disney from themselves, they go and drop the Surfer news. And just like that they take one of their few potential new franchises and turn it into the next Eternals by driving away the very audience they're trying to win back.
