Haven’t picked up much this year but happy to get another Schomburg for my Exciting run. Not a war cover or high grade but a nice hole filler for my collection. And at a great price!

Anybody else notice how many of the just post war Nedor covers feature robberies?

The thief taking a shot at the Black Terror deserves credit for timing it to avoid arousing suspicion in the crowded movie house audience.

Another former copy, one of my earliest Cap acquisitions when just getting back into GA collecting...

The story: This was a beautiful single staple book with nice PQ and should've been at least a 9.0 except for a loose centerfold. The confident dealer from whom I purchased it assured me that the centerfold could be reattached without restoration.  Taking this book to Matt Nelson (Classics Incorporated) in Carrollton, TX for screening prior to submitting to CGC.  The centerfold was a bit more than loose and couldn't be reattached without restoration.  When submitted the grade ended up being knocked down to around a 6.0 (best recollection). The loose centerfold had been noted and priced about right, so this was no fault to the dealer.

After the book returned from Sarasota, I decided to let it go, acquiring another high grade Schomburg Cap (different issue) ...without a staple pull.

I was looking for one of those back in the early 2000s, and I decided that it was a common enough issue that I would hold out for a copy with white pages even though I'll usually accept off-white-to-white. I could not find a white-paged copy anywhere, so I never did snag a copy.

Size-wise, this remote controlled mass of metal may be closer related to Alex's Bender-bot on Human Torch #23...

Of course, the Human Torch is super-sized on this cover too, so some proportions may be optional in Schomburg's world!
