I’m usually all about levity when it comes to threads like this, which can only do so much.  If it starts getting out of hand, no matter by who or how many, I tend to distance myself.  It’s not in my nature to ‘poke the bear’ online…I usually don’t end up being said bear either.  That would not be wise, so I limit my posts.  My levity may start to get out of hand sometimes…that’s another instance where I’ll back off.  I’ve got thick skin, but I also have low tolerance for 💩.  All hail the team!!!

I can't believe I'm doing this. This is a retype (my previous post was way better but now I'm annoyed) but I do genuinely care about this place.

I've been here for 17 years. I've seen most of what there is to see. I've made friends, lost friends, I've had conflicts and I've also made some lifelong friends from this place. In fact, one boardie literally calls me every day to tease me about my tighty whiteys but I refuse to report him to moderation.

This place runs the gamut with a huge variety of people. There's no easy answer or solution for everyone because a public discussion dynamic is very nuanced and everyone is different.

• Some are more low key and don't like to push the envelope much. It might be because it's your personality or you just don't feel comfortable among strangers. But here's the deal, we were all strangers and noobs at one point. If you feel someone is ignoring you, it's probably not personal. There's always a lot going on here. I'd encourage you to try again, or more than once. Nobody is going to remember your posts (I mean that in the best possible way - promise! ) and that's actually not a bad thing. It's hard to keep track of a conversation when there are many posts happening. I miss posts all the time.

 

• Some are stronger personalities. I'm one of those. I originally started timid but once I got my foot in the water I became much more comfortable and dove right in.

 

• Others, maybe most, fall in between these two polar opposites and are here for various reasons.

 

I'll tell you, there isn't a better site in the world to discuss comic collecting and issues that are centered around this hobby.

So I'd encourage you to post if you feel the urge and not worry too much about what people think, say or do on here.

And if you feel out of place because of cliques, just remember that everyone was new here once. Putting in an effort overcomes being a noob quickly

You might join several groups of friends one day or even start your own clique one day.

Just keep it respectful towards others and you have nothing to worry about.

I've known Beyonder for something like 15 years. He's actually much smarter than his avatar would lead you to believe.

I've never met COI but I converted him from blondes to brunettes many years ago and he's been thankful ever since.
