Popular Post Blastaar
Do not sleep on getting a Joe Rubinstein commission while you still can. He has worked on tons of key issues, worked with the best artist, anyone can afford his commissions, and his turnaround is about two weeks. Do it! eastbayrudy, BuraddoRun, Benedict Judas Hel and 2 others

rlextherobot
Just got this Alexis Ziritt Doom Patrol commission. I asked for Sixties Doom Patrol, very pleased he went with this homage to the cover of #89. vodou, cgcsketcherz, JadeGiant and 1 other

Popular Post BuraddoRun
I got both of these months ago, but have been lazy about posting recently. The Peach Momoko I bought on consignment from mycomicshop.com. I was browsing their selection of OA and saw it for a good price and made an offer that saved me about $50 IIRC. I'm a big Tokusatsu fan so couldn't resist her take on Kamen Rider! The Francesco Manna piece has a more interesting story. When I was new here and getting into OA, I looked him up after reading The Rise of Ultraman from Marvel because I liked his artwork and, again, I'm a Tokusatsu fan. So I found his rep and ordered a page. But my excitement dwindled a bit when I found out that he draws digitally and hand inks some of the pages which are then put up for sale. So yes, it still has hand-done artwork, but it's a step down from hand-drawn pencils (though a big step up from monoprints). Anyhow, I put down a fair amount of money and questioned whether I paid too much. Regardless, I paid, and waited to see it in person. And I waited...and waited. I emailed the rep to ask for tracking and was given a number, but every time I looked it up, it said a shipping label had been created but they hadn't received it yet. So finally I emailed his rep again and politely asked for a refund. He apologized and explained that Francesco not only had to deal with COVID delays in his country, but had also gotten sick himself. But he was better and, if I would accept it, would do a free commission for me because of the trouble. I agreed. A little while after that I received the page of OA I paid for, and it does look very nice in person. The commission, I was told, would come later when he was going to fulfill a bunch of commission orders at once. So I accepted that and moved on. Fast forward many months later, and I honestly just assumed I was forgotten and wouldn't receive the commission. I didn't bother emailing his rep, though, because the initial delay was understandable, the communication had been good, and I did get what I paid for, after all. So I just let it go. But then, one day, I got a package with this commission. And man, It looks cool, and beyond that, it's all hand-drawn! So I feel like my initial disappointment in the digital pencils/hand-inked page was made up for with this commission! TLDR; it worked out! Shout out to both Francesco Manna and Cadence Comic Art! They stayed in communication, were open about everything, and kept their word about the bonus commission. I would (and likely will at some point) buy from Cadence again. Popular Post Andahaion
Eowyn by Priscilla Petraites. 11" x 17" ink on paper. I first took notice of Ms. Petraites work when I saw an amazing Wonder Woman piece posted somewhere online. It had a great sense of action, and of interest to me, atmosphere. So, I reached out to her to inquire about a commission and once her list opened up I jumped at the chance. I offered her several ideas and she decided on her take of Eowyn from Lord of the Rings, one of my favorite characters. And for those interested, this would certainly qualify for the Morlock collecting thread, good value here in my opinion. The commission process took a little longer than expected, which is fine, but also just an FYI for those interested. Placed the commission in July 2021, and art was delivered this week. I only mention this as the artist didn't manage expectations very well. She initially said I'd have the art in "a couple weeks". It's all good though, she was very responsive whenever I checked in. I would recommend. Twanj, MagnusX, BCarter27 and 4 others

I got a few months back. He blew it up to 11x17 to ink and add finishing to it and background and he totally killed it. I will be picking this up in and few weeks at first con of the year for me. I'm not generally crazy about the "hot pants" version of Illyana with the Cloud Strife sword, but this one was too keen to pass. You know what I value even more than those things? Honesty and good communication. If an artist tells me it's going to take six months, I won't worry because I know they are busy... But when an artist tells me within a month and there's radio silence until I reach out to them three months later? I'm less likely to recommend this artist, regardless of how good the piece turns out. Andahaion and RBerman

Grade B: Piece is delayed, but artist takes the initiative to communicate the delay to the client. Grade C: Piece is delayed, and artist responds when the client reaches out to inquire. Grade D: Piece is delayed, and artist is slow to respond or requires multiple attempts before giving a response, but does eventually produce the piece. Grade F: Artist only produces the piece or a refund when threatened with legal action, bad press online, etc. Grade F minus: Artist exacts revenge in the form of a sabotaged commission. We could probably make a similar grading scale for how annoying clients can be. Asking for redraws, badgering the artist, trying to make the relationship more than it is, underpayment, etc.

Popular Post Caltex98
When an artist approaches you and say that they want to do a hommage to John Severin's Cracked two-page spreads with a lot of interacting characters you just have to go along. Here is the Spellman Halloween costume party by Bill Galvan: I think there are almost 40 characters counting the portraits on the wall... And while he was on a roll, Bill continued with the Blossoms' christmas party: Besides the usual gang he included a couple of characters from Freshman Year by him and the late Batton Lash, and over by the stereo you can spot a couple of notorious party crashers from Hoppers, California... Click on the pictures for bigger scans in my Bill Galvan CAF gallery. JadeGiant, AndyFish, Benedict Judas Hel and 4 others
