Looking back at my purchases, a marginal year.   

#3 - Complete Joe Rolling Thunder. 

#2 - SW Boxed Millennium Falcon (mostly because of the backstory, which I won't waste people's time telling again. But that box is really nice and having the Denver store's tags on it from down the street is super fun for me)

Personally, I always thought the deck clips were undervalued.  Often made me wonder if most on the net were repros. 

A box with tape/glue is still very desirable.  Not many boxes kicking around and few come to market for a decent price.

I had the opportunity to buy a 2nd one about 4-5 years ago.  In a very nice box, complete, and with the inserts.  Was $1200.   Should have picked it up, stup.  If the box is tough to locate, the inserts are about 100x harder.

Do you have pics of your buddies Joe collection that he'd be okay with posting?  I can't get enough of people's collections. 

Thought of you with the tornado, hope everything is good.  Pretty sure you're north of where it hit, but not 100%.   I'm wishing the best for those affected, terrible it happened and even worse at this time of year.

Hey Patrick!

First of all, thanks for the thoughts, much appreciated. We are all fine here in Louisville. There was a tense evening of watching the weather roll in, I was up until 3am to see if the Tornado Warning's would expire, and fortunately for us, they did. We got a little wind, some rain and lightning, but no damage, thankfully. I have family in some of the affected spots, but luckily everyone is ok. But there are so many people who were affected, it's just a sobering and terrible tragedy. Mayfield is more or less leveled, as are big parts of Bowling Green and other areas. Very heavy, very sad stuff. I am beyond grateful that we're all ok, and just humbled and saddened by the scale of the devastation. Really terrible stuff.

Sure, I can post some pics. I think I posted some up a while back, let me see if I can find them! He's worked very hard to get his collection JUST SO, so I'm sure he's happy to share it. He has completely tricked out his Flagg now, having built a custom "below decks" base for it with several rooms and lots of gear. A real labor of love.

And you're right about the deck clips, they are undervalued, but I think in recent times a lot of folks have opted to go with 3D printed clips, as they're afraid to pay a lot of money for a small piece that is just begging to be broken. I think my friend got his together with all original clips, but he was debating selling them all, making a small mint, and then getting repros for their practical use.

See, that's interesting, because to me, the BAF is really the only thing I care about. Been wanting Bonebreaker for a long time now. I'd also take the updated Havok. Otherwise the wave is a snooze for me.

As for @Buzzetta's Top 3 Topic, my choices align very closely with @Mecha_Fantastic

 

As for new figures that came out this year:

1. Dr. Fate Mezco One:12 - I haven't really gotten into this line, but I had to have this one when I saw it, and boy, it is lovely. A really great presentation, cool design, tons of display options, just a really, really neat figure.

2. Studio 86 Hot Rod - sure, he's a little undersized for a voyager, but with the level of detail you get, he's absolutely worth it. The articulation, the play features (flip down visor, flip out buzzsaw, etc) and the way they managed to keep a cartoon accurate sculpt AND a great alt mode, this is a masterpiece level TF at a voyager price. I bought two, and I might need a third!

3. I'd love to put Snake Eyes and Timber in this slot, but mine is still apparently on the literal slow boat from China. I know BBTS will come through eventually...so, since he didn't make it, I'll say the Classified RAM and Breaker set. I love the simple design, and I'd love to have more of the Original 13 in this lineup.

 

And my top 3 vintage pick-ups this year:

1 & 2. Dreadnok Air and Ground Assault sets complete with boxes: these were my two GI Joe grails, and out of the blue, I landed them. Still can't believe they're sitting in my display case!

3. G1 Jetfire - lots of Xmas morning feeling with this guy. Box is rough, but he's still nice and white.

He has since then added the Cobra Viper Glider to complete that set, as well as a couple of Action Force pieces, the complete line of Sonic Fighters, and I think he is only missing one or two sets of blue prints. It's a lot of pics, so hopefully the spoiler thing works...

Oh well, good for you then. Not so good for you that you're not impressed by the wave. I'm not, either, tbh. I'm happy to have Siryn, and surprisingly Maggott, as I love the Kelly/Seagle run, so I'll happily buy a Maggott, but everyone else is pretty lacklustre. They're not exactly top picks, though. Are we really that far down the X-roster so fast? At least give us Banshee with his daughter.

It's pretty strange that they've still not give us a decent Banshee, considering that we have the rest of the GSX cast present and accounted for. This wave seems very hodge-podge to me. If it was a classic look Siryn I might be interested, but I have no interest or knowledge of the X-Force run that the costume comes from, so that's a pass, and Maggott represents the absolute nadir of X-Men storytelling to me. I'd be all about the Sabretooth if not for that goofy head sculpt, and hot claws Wolvie is another pass. So...yeah, a really lacklustre, confusing, dull wave all around, which seems designed to peg warm. But I'm all about the Bonebreaker!

I’m liking the Havoc, Hulk and Vulcan figures. SabreTooth is alright, I guess but I don’t think I’d beat myself up if I missed out on any of them

Just insanity.  The amount of time to create and set-up some of this is really impressive. 

Couple questions: 

1) What's printed on the small boxes on the racks under the USS Flagg? 

2) Are those legit full file cards on the back wall?  Or something printed?

I bought it to stash until I redo my basement.    Sounds weird to just buy it to shelve it but the Lego AT AT made me realize that the set would be retired and eventually sell out sooner than later at this point.  When it came to getting one on double points day and with many of my own ready to retire, I figured it was best to grab it now.  Redo the basement later.

Yes, definitely a lot of time. It helped that he, like many of us, worked from home for the first year of the pandemic, and he had a LOT of downtime. So he was able to get everything just how he wanted. As for the questions.

1. You know I'm not sure, I'm assuming auto parts or something like that. I'll take a look when I'm over there, he's having a Christmas Horror movie marathon next week, so I'll be at his place, and we also have annual tradition of going out one day during the week after xmas to hit up every toy and junk shop in town. So I'll be over there quite a bit. It's funny, he moved to California for 11 years so I really missed him for a long time (we've been best friends since middle school) and then he moved home a few years ago, so now he lives about two blocks away from me, and I can't get away from the guy! j/k

2. Those are printed, I believe they're posters that were commercially available somewhere, he didn't print them himself.

1. I'll also add that this figure was my introduction to the line, and I was absolutely blown away with what I got. I've since preordered Bishop and the Fantastic Four deluxe set, and hopefully they're just as good as Dr Fate. 

2. I agree with every word you've said. Cartoon accurate, moves like a ninja, looks great doing so, no kibble, this figure of Hot Rod has it all. I also have 2 of it, just so I've got an extra if my open one breaks on me.

Just an FYI for any who might be interested, those WalMart Beast Wars reissues keep dropping in price every day. I can't believe I was excited when they hit $36 ea on Black Friday, because now they're under $15. You can't beat that with a bat. Rat Trap has already sold out at the clearance price and is back to full retail of $19.99, but Primal is down to $14.99, Megs is $14.90, and Cheetor is under $7! I've already processed returns for the two each that I'd ordered, and reordered three of each at the new price. Going to be hard to top that! I was able to snag a couple of reissue Blasters for $13, but they're sold out now. I keep waiting for Astrotrain to go lower, but he's been sitting at $41 for a couple of weeks now. Anyway, if you have any interest at all, now is the time!
