I bought all of these in one lot.  I'm hoping everything on the right will pay for the Superman Crusader ring on the left.

I've got most of them identified.... Tom Mix whistle ring, RoyRogers ring, Captain Midnight decoder, Sky King tele-blinker, Sky King Radar ring.

But two I can't identify... any idea what the last two rings pictured are?

t first I thought the 2nd one might be Chandu the Magician but without the "C" on his turban, probably not. Probably gum ball or store rings with no character id. The other rings are all mail away known characters from late '40's/early '50's. Nothing rare but are still solid sellers for me. The Superman Crusader ring is the coolest of all his rings but also the most common. Either way, a nice piece to own!

Glad you got it. Probably the only one that size that exists and a wonderful early image. So complementary to your comic book collection. No matter what it went for, probably a lot less than a Supe comic of the same rarity would go for.

I wonder if CGC would slab it.  I might have to look into that.

I was thinking to "validate" that it's the real thing, and associate a date with it.

Who would be their expert?

Can someone help ID this issue? This is a zoomed in image of a snapshot photograph 1950's kid in California reading a Superman Title that has the Cover of Action 245 on it. I understand that there is a UK / AU international variation of this book (Superman 109 Australian w Action 235 cover) - but there is clearly no 6D price, nor N. 109 on the cover of the book in this photograph. Any thoughts? Thanks!

In the photo it doesn't appear to have the title, "The Shrinking Superman" which really makes it a mystery.

Yes that's the UK / AU version that I mentioned in the original - but note how there is clearly no big "1" or "6D" price variation below the R in superman in the photo.

You mentioned the 6d priced issue #109:

I posted the one shilling priced #141:

Zooming in, I think the issue in the photo could be either of these two books. I can see the faint outline of the "Shrinking Superman" wording when I blow the image up:

In my experience, bad resolution photos can make it seem that things on the cover are missing. I think it's possible that the price doesn't show, but is there. Ditto the circular logo above the 'S' of the title.

Or I could be talking complete rubbish and there's another version out there waiting to be discovered....

I completely agree with you about low resolution hiding or slightly changing things.... but it's clear that unless there's some kind of "tape pull" that's altered the type, the "Shrinking Superman" copy is completely different and perhaps there's a different title.

I would love this mystery to be solved.

Thanks for the thoughts. Here's the original image. It's also worth noting that he is either in California or Arizona here - It's around Christmas time; some year either before or after they took a trip across the border to Mexico, but this is his back patio based on the other photos in the collection. I also didn't see anything in the other 300+ photos that suggested UK or Australia vacations or connections, but that is speculation on my part.

And it's definitely a foreign comic since that's the cover to Action 245, unless..... a promotion comic?

Cool photo! I am always on the hunt for photos of kids with comics. They rarely turn up. Nice find!

Hard to ascertain anything from the back cover (AUS Superman #109 embedded, Action Comics #245 to the right):

Great idea to look at the back cover. I wish there was a little less light on the image so we could get a better view of it.
