many bigger keys, no ease.

I saw the Doctor Strange 169 9.8 sitting on just under $8k in this last Clink auction.  Thats a softening result from 2020 through to now.   And with movie no.2 well on it's way, you'd expect some heat to be there still.

Not the best 9.8 I've ever seen, but the WP's would have kept some interest as well as the 9.8 grade.

Because absolutely no-one demanded it.......here is the Session 1 results for March C-Link.    Not a Batman collector but I was struck by how many really great Batman and Detective books there were.   And what felt like a lot of 9.9's and even one 10.    Big increases vs prior since many books have not seen sales for nearly a decade.

It sure looks like Clink is getting lower auction prices than Heritage. Better venue for buying?

Yup, it’s been like that for several years.  That’s why I stopped consigning OA and Slabbed books to Clink.

additionally, their site is incredibly antiquated and they have no desire to update it.

This has been my stance for a long time, nearly all my 5 figure books have come from them, when I see the instagram sellers selling for so much I wonder if the buyers know about CL at all, same books, more choices in most cases and way better pricing.I also don't pay taxes to CL so about a 7% swing for me versus HA.

Last year they had some really high sales though, I had a couple bigger books I was killed on.

I did get a Bronze book this round that had been trending up the last few months for well below recent sales.

@piper  i guess it depends on the book. JIM83 set two records last week on comiclink, my 5.0 copy and the 5.5white page copy that i was unable to snag unless i bid 30k. the last 5.5 with white pages sold on heritage in october for 4k less than it just did on CL now.

@jjonahjameson11keep in mind that the final sales price on heritage includes a 20% buyers premium, out of which you as a seller get zero percent. so your end comes out of 80% of the final sales price. and then they also usually charge a sellers premium, like CL.

i find the CL website to be great actually. its comicconnect whose site i cannot stand.

Depending on your $ sales with HA, I find they will sometimes drop the sellers fee altogether.  Regardless, even accounting for the buyers premium, I do better on HA than clink.

still, the clink site leaves much to be desired.

What don't you like about it?

i find CC very slow to load. the homepage just took me at least 5 seconds to load. each page takes far longer than that. i want to see cgc graded comics only. but that is not a filter. original art is mixed with comics, so i have to filter that out each time i search. i can filter by genre of comic, not that useful to me. especially since they consider almost nothing superhero genre. CL separates original art from comics, i far prefer that. and their photos seem to be inconsistent. as annoying as CL is with not always showing rear scans, at least their scanning tech is consistent and good.

don't forget, they now include a buyers premium on a lot of items, but don't calculate it for you when you bid. so at the end you have to have your calculator out just to place a bid. ridiculous.

and the little, tiny NEXT PAGE arrow on the right bottom of the page is so hard to use on an ipad that i often misclick and end up on the final page of the auction. it's just not a good site. i'm amazed that @jjonahjameson11 prefers it in any way to CL. to each his own, i guess.

Savage beating on that Marvel  Premiere 1 :tonofbricks:

And DD168. Paying $13K for a book that shows up on eBay for $6500 is absolute insanity.

And that's the problem with these types of comparison charts and other similar stats when they include outlier transactions, especially in this particular case here, when the outlier is the one and only transaction you are comparing it to.  hm  :ohnoez:

I think only the Marvel Silvers and some key Bronze (a la the Trinity - ASM #129, IH #181 and GSX #1) will really stand the test of time. Expect a gradual fall off with many Bronze titles. Some, like Son of Satan in Marvel Spotlight, have yet to get any traction. There also appears to also be some resistance to highly priced variants that simply aren't in demand. Just because a variant is technically rare, doesn't mean it will skyrocket like ASM #678 or Wolverine #1.

As for DC, I've just never found anything of interest. I like the historical gems like Detective Comics #180 (Joker's Millions) and #241 (Rainbow Batman), but they never appear anymore.

Probably the best investment I could suggest for beginners now is a low AF#15 or IH#1. Not sexy, but a good investment over time. Flipping the other stuff is for the pros.
