I'm always trying to track down a published recreation or homage of CoC19 (for variants or reprints, etc), but I'm always behind the curve trying to find the art after the book is released - and I'm never sure how to locate artists who might be selling the art before the book gets released. Definitely a sweet snag!

I picked up a couple great pages from Strange - a really cool splash page featuring Sorceress Supreme Clea whipping up a wicked spell from Strange #4 (page 18) by Marcelo Ferreira (penciller) and Roberto Poggi (Inker) - I was able to win the bidding on both pencils and blueline inks to keep them together, and as a bonus, the seller threw in the isolated Mandala pen artwork as well:

And the same seller had a great title page 1 splash from the next issue featuring Umar the Unrelenting drinking the blood of the vanquished Blasphemy Cartel. Roberto Poggi's inks over Marcelo Ferreira reprinted bluelines.

Here is Iron Man C-villain, Dreadknight by Dave Cockrum.  This was one of top images that stayed with me from reading the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition series.  It had everything I love: a villain, a cool mask, skulls and a distinctive look.  I am so glad to have a Cockrum piece in my collection (especially since I will most likely never own an X-Men page by him) and a cool-looking villain to boot.

Now this piece confused me as it had a lot of differences between itself and the published piece that appeared in  issue # 4 of the Deluxe series.  But thanks to Fisch (thanks again, Fisch!) who reached out to a few individuals (including Joe Rubinstein!) who confirmed that this piece was the initial Dave Cockrum illustration while the published image was the lightboxed version Joe Rubinstein did (which accounts for the differences that Joe Rubinstein said he did in his version) for the comic book.  Hopefully I can track down the published versions so that I can obtain both versions for my collection.

I saw the book when it first came out (I had a copy, gave it away in the boards’ annual Christmas raffle as part of my gift box. Another copy is on its way to me. I’ll add it to the post when it arrives.) and my first thought was I’d love to have that piece! But my friend had told me he thought it was fully digital so I kind of forgot about it. Then I saw John Hebert at Albany Comic Con and asked him about it. He clarified that the letters and colors were digital but the art itself was very much ink over graphite. One thing led to another …

I enjoyed the "Red Star" comic when it came out so when Bill Cox had a comicartlive event with Christian Gossett, I attended (I rarely do) and I actually bought something (first and so far only Claim purchase)

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #30 framed trade and prelim by Mike Mayhew.

Unboxed this one last night - the style of inkwork reminded me of a Stephen Platt piece, and the amount of detail in the cover is really cool to look at in-hand. I really like these mid-90's London Night Studios covers, they are fun to chase because they don't turn up a lot and they just have an interesting polished look to them - not to mention, they really nail that 90's look (which I love, and others...not so much. )

Second times the charm. Lost out on this quite some time ago maybe within past two years off eBay, wasn't the right timing. Came up for auction on Heritage this summer even with hammer and all the other fees it sold to me well under what I originally lost it for. Added bonus I at least know the original owner since it was inscribed to them. I have come to appreciate picking up paper sketches that were personalized, it sincerely helps the price and it gives a bit of history for the piece in question.

That’s pretty cool it turned up again - and you landed it. It’s always a carpshoot on art, it could be locked up for the next 30 years, or turn back up in a couple! Congrats!

Behold the rarest piece you're likely to see posted here. A heritage auction lot that sold at the starting bid price! It's the logo design for the Doctor Fate series from the late 80s to the early 90s that was a continuation of the 4-issue mini-series. They're both a great read and suggest you give them a look. It was used for the first 24 issues before being changed to the later logo design which lasted to the end of the series at issue #41. Put a dollar watch bid on it since I thought it was interesting and ended up winning it.
